From Ancient Mtskheta to Borjomi Springs via Uplistsikhe
Jvari Church
Our day begins at one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Georgia. Jvari sits high above Mtskheta, where two rivers meet, and the view is simply unforgettable. It’s a peaceful, photogenic place and a perfect way to ease into Georgia’s history and spirit.
Mtskheta
After Jvari, we head down into Mtskheta itself — Georgia’s ancient capital and one of its most atmospheric towns. Cobblestone streets, cozy cafés, and centuries of history all come together here. It’s a great place to walk, explore, and really feel the soul of the country.
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral
As we explore Mtskheta, we naturally arrive at Svetitskhoveli — the city’s main cathedral and one of the most important places in the country. We’ll take our time, step inside, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before moving on.
Gori
Around midday, your guide will suggest a local restaurant along the route for anyone who’d like to take a break and enjoy some traditional Georgian food. Lunch is optional — you can join or continue exploring at your own pace.
Uplistsiche Cave Town
Next, we head to Uplistsikhe — a city carved into rock long before modern buildings existed. Wander through winding tunnels, peek into ancient chambers, and imagine life here hundreds of years ago. It’s part history, part adventure — and the views from the hilltop are absolutely epic.
Borjomi
We arrive in Borjomi, where you’ll check in to your hotel — bookings are on your own, so you can pick a place that suits you best. After settling in, you’ll have some free time to explore Borjomi National Park. Take a peaceful walk through the lush greenery, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and don’t forget to taste the famous Borjomi mineral water straight from the springs!
Rabati to Vardzia with Javakheti Lakes – Day 2 Adventure
Rabati Castle
We kick off Day 2 at Rabati Castle — a fortress that’s part history, part hidden maze of towers and walls. Wander through the castle grounds, peek inside the old churches, and imagine life here centuries ago. With its mix of medieval charm and modern touches, it’s a fun place to explore and snap some photos.
Vardzia
Next, we visit Vardzia, a stunning 12th-century cave monastery carved into the cliffs of Erusheti Mountain. This UNESCO World Heritage site features a labyrinth of caves, churches, and tunnels, offering a fascinating journey through history. While the tour involves navigating some steep, uneven paths and narrow passages, the effort is rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and Mtkvari River. Vardzia is a true testament to the ingenuity and resilience of the Georgian people, making it a memorable and awe-inspiring stop.
Paravani Lake
We wrap up Day 2 with a visit to Javakheti National Park and the stunning Paravani Lake. This is wide-open, peaceful Georgia at its best — rolling hills, sparkling water, and plenty of wildlife. Keep an eye out for the storks’ nests perched high above the wetlands — a truly unique sight that makes this stop unforgettable.

Our recent journey to Borjomi was truly magical, Giga took us to many beautiful spots along the way, allowing us to capture breathtaking pictures and create lasting memories. His knowledge about Borjomi and willingness to share insights about the area added a whole new dimension to the trip. 5.00Beautiful places and a big thank you to our guide Alex! We generally don’t go on planned tours because it feels too binding … just rushing around ticking off things on a list… you don’t really experience places you just see them! But since this was a last minute planned trip, we didn’t have time to research, and so we booked this trip and we got lucky because we had Alex!!! Excellent guide and an even better human! He explained about everything, the cultural and historical aspects and never rushed us, we even tweaked our itinerary our way! I would strongly suggest to get in touch with him early so he can create an itinerary which would work as per your interest.

5.00Great experience with Giga to Rabati castle and verdzia caves. He has alot of knowledge in history and speaks english fluently. The places were amazing and full of history. He makes the tour very engaging and interesting. Highly recommended!

5.00It was a magical experience. Giga was the best tour guide we could ask for. He spoke fluent English. The nature walks in borjomi, sulphur baths, historic caves, and family lunches where all so memorable.

5.00One of the most beautiful & serene place. Even though part of the the ride up was through very rough terrain, it was worth it! Our guide Giga made it a memorable trip with experienced drivers and a wonderful explanation on the history of the place. The monastery and church was beautiful and has breathtaking views. It is a must visit!
