So I went on two Viator tours in Sydney and one Viator tour in Brisbane . All three of them advertised “local” tour guides but in reality they were mere transplants from another country who needed a side gig for some cash while they were in school. The experiences left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be booking with Viator for any city or cultural tours because everything I want to know I can find out in the internet (or Reddit) before I land in the city. I was hoping for a real, honest to goodness LOCAL who could tell me more about Australian lore , history and culture. Sad and disappointed I left all three of my tours dejected and ready to find a company that actually hires real tour guides from their local area or municipality.
