Discover Far North Queensland's spectacular rainforest with a local expert on this intimate Kuranda tour from Cairns. Limited to 10 guests, this small-group experience combines the award-winning Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and historic Kuranda Scenic Railway with personalised service in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
Journey above World Heritage Wet Tropics rainforest on Skyrail, explore Kuranda Village's Heritage Markets and wildlife sanctuaries, and witness Barron Falls cascading through Barron Gorge National Park. Return via the 1891 Kuranda Scenic Railway, travelling through 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 heritage bridges as your guide shares Djabugay cultural stories, Queensland railway history, and tropical ecology.
Our service includes pickup from Cairns City and Cairns Port with all Skyrail and Railway tickets included.
Please note that from 20 July, the Skyrail will be undergoing renovations; from 21 July onwards guests will be driven to Kuranda, returning by train.

Skyrail will be undergoing major renovations from 20 July until 18 August 2026. From this date, Skyrail will be replaced with van transfer to Kuranda Village
On the following dates Skyrail will be undergoing scheduled maintenance. The tour operator will reachout with amendment to your itinerary: May 25-31 , June 1, Aug 24-25, 31, Sep 1, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, 28-29, Oct 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, Dec 25
Please note, the cruise port pickup is for Cairns (city) Cruise Terminal only. If you dock in Yorkey's Knob, an extra fee will apply

Your guide collects you from your Cairns accommodation and shares insights about Djabugay Aboriginal heritage and World Heritage Wet Tropics during the scenic drive to either Skyrail Smithfield Terminal or Freshwater Station, depending on optimal daily routing to avoid crowds.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway
Glide 7.5 kilometers above pristine rainforest canopy with Coral Sea views. Stop at Red Peak Station to walk elevated boardwalks through ancient forest, then visit Barron Falls Station to view spectacular waterfalls cascading into Barron Gorge National Park from multiple lookout platforms.

5.00Enjoyed the train, the activities and education. The ride in the Duck boat was fun and the cultural experiences were also memorable. The sky train down was the highlight!

5.00Excellent day out, despite the rain. We were collected from our hotel by Man in his Minibus promptly as agreed, he explained everything to us and gave us a lot of information about Cairns, the trip and the general area. Man also collected all our tickets for us and explained where we had to go and how things worked. He was very patent with the old members of our party who cant walk too far or move about very fast. The trip itself was lovely, up to Kuranda on the scenic railway and back down on the skyrail. When we got up to Kuranda Man met us at the station and showed us some of the less touristy parts of the area including a lookout where you could see a waterfall not previously visible from the tour. Top tour guide Man, you did an awesome job and all with a happy smile and cheery commentary, even though we managed to get you soaked a couple of times while waiting around for us to get in the Minibus! Thankyou ☺️

5.00Wonderful experience riding on the historic railway and such beautiful views while on the skyrail. The Kuranda rainforest is beautiful. Would definitely recommend this tour! Our tour guide Man was timely and made the entire experience smooth. Man was very accommodating and even dropped us off at the airport instead of back to the starting point which helped tremendously.

5.00It’s a great day out, try and sit on the right hand side of the train if going to Karunda on the train. Man ( his name ) our guide was spot on, very flexible and knowledgeable. We were off a cruise ship, he was very aware that we needed to get back for a certain time and adjusted the tour accordingly, great !
