Discover Far North Queensland's spectacular rainforest with a local expert on this intimate Kuranda tour from Cairns. Limited to 10 guests, this small-group experience combines the award-winning Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and historic Kuranda Scenic Railway with personalised service in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
Journey above World Heritage Wet Tropics rainforest on Skyrail, explore Kuranda Village's Heritage Markets and wildlife sanctuaries, and witness Barron Falls cascading through Barron Gorge National Park. Return via the 1891 Kuranda Scenic Railway, travelling through 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 heritage bridges as your guide shares Djabugay cultural stories, Queensland railway history, and tropical ecology.
Our service includes pickup from Cairns City and Cairns Port with all Skyrail and Railway tickets included.
Please note that from 20 July, the Skyrail will be undergoing renovations; from 21 July onwards guests will be driven to Kuranda, returning by train.

Skyrail will be undergoing major renovations from 20 July until 18 August 2026. From this date, Skyrail will be replaced with van transfer to Kuranda Village
On the following dates Skyrail will be undergoing scheduled maintenance. The tour operator will reachout with amendment to your itinerary: May 25-31 , June 1, Aug 24-25, 31, Sep 1, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, 28-29, Oct 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, Dec 25
Please note, the cruise port pickup is for Cairns (city) Cruise Terminal only. If you dock in Yorkey's Knob, an extra fee will apply

Your guide collects you from your Cairns accommodation and shares insights about Djabugay Aboriginal heritage and World Heritage Wet Tropics during the scenic drive to either Skyrail Smithfield Terminal or Freshwater Station, depending on optimal daily routing to avoid crowds.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway
Glide 7.5 kilometers above pristine rainforest canopy with Coral Sea views. Stop at Red Peak Station to walk elevated boardwalks through ancient forest, then visit Barron Falls Station to view spectacular waterfalls cascading into Barron Gorge National Park from multiple lookout platforms.

5.00We booked a tour with Manto do both the Skyrail and Scenic Railway and it was everything we hoped for and more. He was always on time to meet us at the different spots and as an added bonus took us on a little rainforest adventure in between where we learned some of the history of the area and some facts about the flora and fauna of the area. Showed us around Kuranda so we knew where everything was before we started and dropped us back to our car as promised. It was a great tour and such an amazing day. Thanks Man

5.00The Kuranda railway / Skyrail gondola is an amazing experience. The views are incredible, the town very cute and the whole experience is unique and thrilling. Our driver Mein was wonderful, very informative and knowledgeable about the railway. We would highly recommend him.

5.00The train ride to Kuranda was an awesome experience and the story of how it was built is amazing. The views were spectacular and the waterfalls were beautiful. Just when you thought you couldn’t be more amazed you took the skyrail back down and enjoyed the sites from another viewpoint. A must do experience

5.00Mann was an outstanding driver/guide. Great day on the train and sky rail and in Kurunda. The sky rail was delayed due to weather, but Mann ensured we were all aboard and met us at the end. Delightful person who really knew his business.

5.00Had a little bit of a hiccup at pick up but after that the trip was excellent . Timings were perfect for each stage and having two hours to spend in the lovely town of Kuranda was great.

4.00Our guide named “Man” was excellent and very knowledgeable. Train journey was great and comfortable. Skyline back down was unfortunately hampered by rain/thunderstorms in the area, so didn’t get to see the views of the rainforest and around. We were just unlucky on the day. Otherwise a great day out
