Discover Far North Queensland's spectacular rainforest with a local expert on this intimate Kuranda tour from Cairns. Limited to 10 guests, this small-group experience combines the award-winning Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and historic Kuranda Scenic Railway with personalised service in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
Journey above World Heritage Wet Tropics rainforest on Skyrail, explore Kuranda Village's Heritage Markets and wildlife sanctuaries, and witness Barron Falls cascading through Barron Gorge National Park. Return via the 1891 Kuranda Scenic Railway, travelling through 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 heritage bridges as your guide shares Djabugay cultural stories, Queensland railway history, and tropical ecology.
Our service includes pickup from Cairns City and Cairns Port with all Skyrail and Railway tickets included.
Please note that from 20 July, the Skyrail will be undergoing renovations; from 21 July onwards guests will be driven to Kuranda, returning by train.

Your guide collects you from your Cairns accommodation and shares insights about Djabugay Aboriginal heritage and World Heritage Wet Tropics during the scenic drive to either Skyrail Smithfield Terminal or Freshwater Station, depending on optimal daily routing to avoid crowds.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway
Glide 7.5 kilometers above pristine rainforest canopy with Coral Sea views. Stop at Red Peak Station to walk elevated boardwalks through ancient forest, then visit Barron Falls Station to view spectacular waterfalls cascading into Barron Gorge National Park from multiple lookout platforms.

5.00Forget the cruise ships big bus tours, We had 10 on comfortable van and a great guide Chris. We went to spots big bus can’t get to.

5.00This tour was a great choice. Our drive trip operator messed up and forgot to come get us on the day we were supposed to go out with them. We had to switch to the following day, and we contacted Man to see if we could go a day earlier with him. He responded immediately and 30 minutes later he picked us up with updated tickets and did a fantastic job of making it a special day. HIGHLY recommend!
Don't visit with a guide, simply not worth the additional expense. Save your money and book the journey direct.

3.00Overall the trip was good but booking with a guide was not the way to visit. The guide picked us up and took us to the railway station in Cairns where he purchased our tickets and then left us to board the train alone. The journey was great, with good announcements along the way guiding us through the trip. A real treat riding a railway that was hand built in the late 1800's. We were met by our guide at the end of the line in Karunda where we were given a 45 minute tour of Karunda and then left for a couple of hours to enjoy the area and have some lunch. Our guide then collected us and drove us the 200m to the skyrail terminal for the journey back down. The Skyrail was amazing! The views of the rainforest and the whole experience was well worth it, and probably something that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Finally we were collected by our guide and returned to our accommodation in Cairns. Here is the concerning part. When we arrived back at the skyrail terminal I saw that the ticket price for the one way Skyrail & one way Railway journey was $127.50. We had paid $290 each so effectively we paid an additional $162.50 each for the transfer and a short tour of Karunda. The guide was very pleasant and knowledgable but it really was not worth the additional expense.

5.00We had a great day. The train ride is excellent. Much better than I expected. The history was interesting and some of the views were stupendous. We were fortunate to be there after some heavy rains so the Barron Falls were torrential. Very impressive. Kuranda itself was fun, although I wouldn't want to spend more than the several hours allotted. We went into a very nice art gallery, the Doongal Aboriginal Gallery. If you are into Aboriginal art, they have an extensive selection. We had a great cup of coffee, some good Gelato and went into the Outback shop. Following that we took the Skyrail over the RainForest. There are two stops; the first overlooking the Barron Falls from the side opposite the Rail Way. Stupendous! We made one other stop where you can get a better understanding of the rain forest from an exhibition there. After another 20 minutes, you're at the bottom, where our driver picked us up and took us back to our cruise ship. If you are lucky enough to get Chris as your driver; you will definitely be entertained.

5.00We enjoyed our tour very much despite the rain. As a small group, it was easier, less time wasting and more flexible. Man, our guide, is very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating and helped us to arrange extra activity - Army Duck, which we also enjoyed.
