This is an absolutely unforgettable experience. This day trip has it all: adventure, pristine tropical rivers, waterfalls, cave swimming, beautiful scenery, adrenaline, fun and even some archeology/history along the day.
We will swim through caves, go under cool waterfalls, and even cliff jump from cliffs ranging from 8 to 27 feet (optional of course.) The place is almost undiscovered, not like El Yunque where you can easily encounter hundreds of people in a single day. Mostly just locals here or people who come with us! The drive from the meeting point to the rainforest caves is about one hour. Along the way you will see the real Puerto Rico, quite removed from the tourist area. You will see a more rural way of life where the locals are connected with nature. The scenery along the drive and hike is absolutely incredible. Once the adventure begins, we will take you through the jungle. We grew up doing this and know the area like the back of our hands, so you are safe with us.

Charco Azul and its other-worldly views is something that you simply cannot miss. Swimming through caves is exhilarating. At the end we go cliff jumping (optional) for even more adrenaline. This visit includes the Arenales Caves as well.

5.00Strongly recommend! This breathtaking area of Puerto Rico is lush and jungle-like. The river water was clear when we went. Jumping the cliffs into the river was exhilarating! Climbing was fun, and a little adventurous, challenging and slippery due to the river. I saw an 8-year-old successfully navigate the trails and jump from a smaller cliff. Kashe was our guide and we had a wonderful experience that we'll share with family and friends.

5.00We just did the Cave, Waterfall, and River Adventure in Charco Azul from San Juan and it was one of the most memorable excursions we have ever taken. This tour is not a casual walk in the park; it is a full-on adventure that combines intense physical challenge with some of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful natural scenery. From the start, the terrain demanded effort. We hiked rugged trails through lush forest, scrambled over rocks, swam through clear river passages, climbed up waterfalls, and finished with exhilarating cliff jumps (optional but utterly rewarding). This is the kind of experience that pushes you in all the right ways without ever feeling unsafe, and it felt like a real expedition rather than a typical tourist stop. Our guide Sarah was absolutely exceptional. She balanced professionalism, deep local knowledge, and infectious enthusiasm in a way that kept everyone motivated and smiling, even when the going got tough. Her support and confidence were a big reason we felt comfortable tackling the more challenging parts. She was attentive without being overbearing, shared fascinating insights about the landscape and wildlife, and genuinely cared that we had a great time. If you go on this tour, ask for her. She could easily be a real-life Lara Croft. We came into this with minimal expectations beyond “let’s see some caves and waterfalls,” and we left with one of the best adventure days of our trip. Anyone who likes a mix of physical challenge, natural wonder, and a guide who elevates the whole experience should absolutely book this.

5.00Highly recommend! Such a beautiful place combined with some adventure! This was universally a highlight of our vacation to Puerto Rico for all members of my family. This trip though would not be good for anyone that has any mobility issues. Recommend shoes that can get wet that have a good tread (not flip flops or crocs) You should be ready to swim as well as jump off a small cliff and climb on uneven surfaces.

5.00This was our most favorite excursion we had during our last two visits to Puerto Rico. Alex, our tour guide, was top notch! He made sure that we felt safe and comfortable, as this excursion did require moderate physical activity with some climbing and swimming. He also took extra steps to make sure we got the most of the experience by taking us deeper into caves, different areas to jump off different heights of cliffs, took amazing pictures and videos of us and checked to make sure they were good, and provided us with a home cooked meal from his family. He shared information about the vegetation and about the local area. The scenery was breathtaking, however, Alex really made the excursion to be one of the very best that we ever experienced. My family highly recommends this tour, particularly having Alex as your tour guide!

5.00We had a great time - ages 56, 28, 22, 21. Hike down a steep paved hill, then through the woods. Jump off a 10’ cliff into the water. We swam through a cave (you could see from entrance to exit), entered another cave with a stunning waterfall, saw cave carvings. Some of the climbing requires dexterity, balance, and climbing. Chacos were slippery - closed toe would help as can’t see bottom sometimes and there are rocks rocks rocks. Ended with a river soak and free time. Our guide grew up playing here so we got a wonderful tour and history. This was very fun and not commercial or stale. Enjoyed it very much!
Adventure thru the forest to reach the cave and waterfall

5.00This is a great adventure - not your typical hike thru the forest to get to the caves. You will be hiking thru water, steep and muddy in places, hanging onto the side of the mountain. Must wear sturdy shoes that you don't care about - and you will get dirty. While it was challenging for us, it was a great time. John our tour guide was wonderful. He took his time with our group and made sure we were all safe. Definitely an adventure not to be missed!!!
