Important to note - The tour involves around a 5k walk. It is at a relaxed pace, and there are numerous rests and places to sit down along the way. We go up and down some stairs and very slight inclines to reach our foodie destinations.
If you are in a wheelchair or have mobility issues please contact us prior to booking a tour so that we can go through any accessibility issues. We will accommodate all of these and answer all queries

5.00Steph runs the BEST food tours in Chester! Also, I'm vegetarian and was really pleased with the options offered by all the venues we stopped at. And even though I've been living here for 7 years, I discovered so many interesting facts about Chester, as we walked from one to the next

5.00Delicious food and drink mixed with a tour of Chester City Centre by the knowledgeable and engaging Steph. We all met at Chester information centre, then headed off to Greenhouse, in Rufus court, off Northgate Street. The food was amazing, especially the 5 hour cooked patatas bravas. Served with a crisp refreshing white wine, think it was called tribbiani, delicious anyway. Then had a short tour of Chester, walks and cathedral before we headed to Russell's Thai, Foregate St. Some of us tried the Thai white wine, which was surprisingly good. Served with duck bao buns, the buns were light, fluffy and fresh...delish! We then walked over to lower bridge st, and Brewery Tap...never been there before and lived and worked in Chester for 20years! Great atmosphere in here, such an important and historical building, real treat to go in here. The pie was fab, perfect with the rioja I chose. Then, a bit of history about some of the more haunted places around the area. We then tootled up to Chester Market for the non-sweet toothed persons cheesecake....the cheshire cheese cheesecake....oh my that was good! A little coffee or espresso would've been good, but we were whisked off for a chocolate treat at Sam Joseph's...this really is a special little place, they were that good i treated myself to a box of six chocolates. Tour was finished off with a cocktail at Shrub, I chose an italicus, refreshing citrus flavoured cocktail to wash it all down with. Fab tour, something a little different, where you get to try food in places you had no idea existed, so many hidden gems in Chester. All seamlessly coordinated and hosted by Steph, thanks again 😊

5.00Steph gave us an excellent food tour and is so knowledgeable about the best places to eat, as well as the history of Chester. Despite being a local I learnt lots of new things about the town. We ate some great food in lovely places and she made sure we were all catered for and looked after. I would thoroughly recommend taking a tour with Steph, she’s a wonderful guide and host.

5.00We’ve just returned from our office (13 of us) Christmas afternoon out on the Chester on a Plate food tour, and what an absolute treat it was! Despite the rain pouring down on Chester, our spirits couldn’t be dampened thanks to our fantastic host, Steph. Steph took us to a brilliant variety of venues—each one serving up something delicious, whether food, drink, or both. We let her choose all the stops for us, and honestly… she nailed it. Every place was fabulous. Not only was Steph warm, friendly, and great at looking after the whole group, but she also shared fun and fascinating facts about Chester—some of which were new even to us locals at The Uncommon Accountants! We laughed, we ate, we drank, and we learned—what more could you want from a food tour? A huge thank you to Steph for making it such a memorable Christmas outing for The Uncommon Accountants team. Highly recommend!

5.00If you’re thinking about booking a Chester food tour — choose Steph. I’ve just done her tour and it was honestly one of the loveliest experiences I’ve had in the city. The food was incredible, the stories were fascinating, and Steph herself is the kind of person who makes you feel instantly welcome. It felt less like a tour and more like spending the afternoon with a friend who adores Chester and knows all its hidden gems. 5.00We were a family group celebrating a 30th birthday (age range 27 to 82) and joined Steph on a Chester Street Food walking tour. Steph was brilliant, very friendly and easy to chat to, and guided us around Chester, pointing out local landmarks and giving us lots of historical information as we went. We made 6 stops for food and drink, and in most of them we met the people behind the food and businesses, which was really interesting. We had various dietary restrictions and preferences between us, and they were all catered for. In summary, it was a really lovely way to spend an afternoon, and would highly recommend. We thought it was just the right balance of food and history. Thank you, Steph, we really enjoyed meeting you 😊

5.00If you love food and discovering hidden gems this tour is definitely for you. Steph is super lovely and knowledgeable and you get to try a range of Chester’s independent restaurants whilst learning about the city’s history. I also let Steph know ahead that I am vegetarian and she made sure to cater to me. I had a fantastic day and was left feeling stuffed from all the delicious food…highly recommend!

5.00We had a brilliant time on our evening food tour, despite the torrential rain! We went as a group of four, 2 couples, and met another couple. The 6 of us really enjoyed each others company and even swapped numbers at the end. We are local to Chester but hadn’t been to any of the venues before so experienced some delicious food in great new finds. Steph’s history tour was super interesting too and gave a really unique aspect to the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed this and will book another in the future.

5.00We really enjoyed our food tour with Steph on Saturday! All the food venues were delicious and interesting, all independent which is lovely too . A great way to spend 5 hours in Chester - learning about the history of the city from Steph’s very engaging talks at different stops on the tour . Even though we have been to Chester many times we learned things we didn’t know ! I would recommend to anyone and certainly would do again 😀

5.00⭐ Five Stars. An Absolutely Brilliant Day Out! ⭐ We recently went on a Chester Food Tour with our guide, Stephanie, and it was genuinely one of the best experiences we’ve had in our own city. From the moment we booked, everything was seamless, friendly, and so thoughtfully organised. Even though we already live in Chester, Stephanie taught us so many fascinating things we had never heard of before. Her passion for the city really shines through, and it made the whole day feel special. The tour itself was beautifully put together, a perfect mix of delicious food, hidden gems, and independent businesses that we didn’t even know existed. Every stop felt unique, and you could tell how much care had gone into curating the experience. What really impressed us was how considerate she was about dietary requirements. We’re very fussy eaters and don’t drink alcohol, and she made sure that non-alcoholic cocktails and beers were available at each stop. It made us feel completely included and looked after. We started at 11.30am and finished around 4.30pm, and the whole day just flowed effortlessly. Great food, great company, lots of walking, lots of learning.....the perfect way to spend a day in Chester. If you’re visiting Chester or even if, like us, you live here, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. It’s a wonderful way to explore the city, try incredible food, support local independents, and discover places you’d never stumble across on your own. Absolutely worth booking. You’ll love every minute! 🌟
