Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara
Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara Wat Chedi Luang, this temple is the site of an enormous pagoda, originally 280 feet high, and which was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. At one time, Wat Chedi Luang housed the revered Emerlad Buddha image now enshrined in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew. One of Wat Chedi Luang’s most striking architectural features is a magnificent Naga staircase adorns the chapel’s front.

Wat Doi Suthep It is a tremendous temple complex with a visual delight every time you turn your head. It is popular with the tour buses, but wait for the tour to move on and enjoy. Give yourself plenty of time and you will not be disappointed.

4.00We only got to visit 2 of the 3 temples due to heavy traffic (we opted out since our tour time had already ended before the last temple, but it seemed like they were willing to go over for us) The tour guide was okay. She wasn’t very good at setting time expectations or rallying us all up, so we ended up wandering too long separately and that’s why we weren’t able to make the last temple. Beautiful first temple though:)

5.00I would recommend this tour to get a good overview of the history of Chiang Mai. Our guide Ooh La La was very informative and engaging, giving us the history behind the temples and also allowing us time to wander about at each site. I would never have known the stories behind now these temples came to be if we went on our own.
