Taking the early tour to Chichen Itza was a great decision as our guide had already purchased our tickets and we skipped the queues and got in as gates opened. The guide was very good and spoke both English & Spanish. We had about an hour after the 1.5 hour guided tour to explore. We then travelled to a home with a private cenote for a lovely swim and a home cooked meal. We had the cenote to ourselves. It was a very special experience. After lunch we visited Izamal the yellow city and climbed an old pyramid. We had about an hour to explore before we returned to Merida. A great day out. Highly recommend.

really great experience, one of the first groups to arrive at chichen Itzá — i literally have pics with no one in the background. Private cenote was also a lovely experience, and food was incredible.

We got everything you could want out of a day trip from Mérida - Hernán was an expert tour guide in all ways and we thought the excursion was a great combination of experiences. Book it!

This was a perfect way to see Chichen Itza before the heat and the crowds descended. The private cenote is truly a hidden gem and lunch was delicious. We enjoyed our stop in Izamel as well. Delio is a terrific guide!

Hernan was a great guide, got us to the site very early so that we were the second group in line! I appreciated his direct and respectful approach to teaching us about Chichen Itzá. He didn’t do any of the touristy or gimmicky things like clapping or making noise. He did explain the Mayan understanding of their world and how that informed everything we saw. He also allowed us plenty of time to explore on our own. After that we traveled to a local family’s home and explored the Cenote- it truly is unbelievable and worth the trip alone! Then we had a simple yet very delicious lunch- as promised, traditional cochinita pibil and salutes were made, plus a couple extra delights like the family’s own (and better!) version of Tajín. We had 10 people in our group and one other group of about 6 people had lunch at the same time, which still felt intimate and easygoing. We rounded out the trip with a quick stop to Izamal, walking around for an hour. The day went by very fast and even though it was an all-day trip, we weren’t completely worn out by the end! I would recommend (and HAVE recommended) this tour to friends. It truly feels like a local guide with local ties and invests in the community, as opposed to going into someone else’s pockets. Make sure you bring pesos for extra tips and/or souvenirs. It’s worth it!
