What To Expect
Enjoy complimentary transport from your Healy hotel or make your own way to Black Diamond Resort Co to begin your 4WD ATV adventure. Meet your guide, who provides you with a safety training and information course. Go over all the functions of your vehicle, get fitted with a helmet, safety goggles, gloves, and optional rain gear then hop on board the ATV for a trial run. If you prefer not to drive your own ATV, you can join the guide as a passenger aboard their 2-person machine. Then, it’s time to head into the Alaskan wilderness. Journey into the back country, traversing old mining trails that spill out onto the Dry Creek River Bed — an excavation site for Athabascan Indian artifacts. Stop to explore an abandoned cabin across the river, breathe in the fresh mountain air and make your way up Black Diamond Peak for spectacular views of the entire Healy Valley. Your guide fills you in on local history, flora, and fauna along the way. Break from your off-road excitement for a hearty, back country meal. Settle in for either a full-service lumberjack breakfast with fresh-baked biscuits and gravy, thick-cut bacon, and flapjacks, or dishes that include ribs, steak, chicken and fresh salmon, depending on the time of day. Juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and adult beverages are also available. Afterward, climb back on board your ATV machine for a wild ride back to your starting point.

1.00Buyer Beware - They will rip you off and refuse to make it right! My family of 4 and I did the ATV and backcountry dinner through Viator with Black Diamond. First, let me say our guides, David and Andrew, top notch. They were great! Explained everything, gave back stories of the areas we visited, helped take photos, very polite and kind. The trail was fine, got in some good views, however...... We had 3 older people with our group of 7, who didnt want to go faster than 5 mph. We are middle aged with 2 teen boys, and let's just say I could have walked faster than we traveled on the trail with the ATVs. But the real down fall here was, we got to dinner and there was basically nothing left. First off, they only had 6 scheduled, so they only "made" food for 6 even though there was 7 people. They didnt even have a place for her to sit, we had to create an extra spot on the edge of our table. The food portions were basically non-existent. They ran out of corn, ribs, chicken, and salmon. We all only got 1 rib each, 1 small piece of chicken (one of us only got a single chicken leg) and we had to cut 1 piece of salmon into 7 pieces for all of us to have a bite. The food was good, it just wasn't there to feed us. Paying over $700 (with tip) for an experience that included dinner, but dinner wasn't really there and my family left hungry, that isn't right. I requested a partial refund since we didnt get dinner as described in the booking and they refused and didnt offer an apology. Shameful to take people's money and not give them what they paid for and what you advertised. Stay away and go with another company.

5.00Great experience. The guides, Shane and Mar, were friendly and experienced. I had issues with finding my comfort zone on ATV and they immediately switched me to a side by side - enjoyed that so much more! Shane knows the terrain well and we felt safe at all times while having a great time. Highly, recommend. The lunch was delicious as well.
Best last minute find! Highly recommend!

5.00The whole experience was top notch! Such a great crew from beginning to end. We had Dani and she was excellent. Such cool views, delicious meal in a remote area, and cool knowledge about the surrounding area. Highly recommend!

5.00The views of the Denali wilderness was outstanding. The tour was well organized, with good guides, equipments and instructions. The family style dinner was tasty and provided an enjoyable opportunity to meet others on the tour.
