This was a really amazing experience. The access to see animals in the wild was spectacular. Our guide Paula was very knowledgeable about the local birds and animals and she spotted several interesting things along the trip and gave us an opportunity to see much more than what was on the official itinerary.

An excellent small group tour with a fabulous, knowledgeable guide, Ben in our case. Travelling out to the Otago Peninsula to see New Zealand fur seals, sea lions and the yellow eyed penguins. The penguins are very elusive but we did manage to see one on our trip 😄😄. We even got the chance to share the beach with some huge Sea Lions, whilst Ben kept a watchful eye out, ensuring our safety at all times. Thank you Ben for a memorable day.

This excursion was absolutely amazing! We ended up getting off the cruise ship later than expected and technically missed our 9:30am departure, but they kindly allowed us to join the 10am group with no issues at all. That flexibility immediately set the tone for a great experience. The tour is small and intimate, which made it feel much more personal. Adrian was our tour guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the wildlife and conservation efforts. You can tell they genuinely care about the wildlife, not just running a tour. We had cold, windy, and rainy weather the entire time, but honestly, it didn’t take away from the experience at all. It was still absolutely worth it. We saw so much wildlife up close, which was unforgettable. They provided high-quality rain jackets and binoculars, which was a great touch. That said, if you own really high-quality binoculars, I’d recommend bringing them. The ones provided were very nice, but my husband and I have an even better pair and I wished we had brought ours. Overall, it was an incredible experience and everyone was so kind and accommodating. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting!

The tour was great with wonderful views all along the way. Adrian paused en route to point out and identify birds that he saw. The stops to see the sea lions at play among the rocks and along the beach were fantastic. It was great to have binoculars provided or we wouldn’t have been able to see the penguins. Adrian was very knowledgeable and was able to provide thorough answers to our questions. He also explained the issues related to climate change and the importance of assisting the species that are close to extinction. We also appreciated Adrien’s sharing of what gave him hope and what inspired him in his desire to be a positive force in the world.

We had a great time! Loved the small group arrangement. Ben, our guide, was wonderful. He worked really hard to show us so many things. We saw yellow eyed penguins, sea lions, albatross , sheep, black swans and tons of other birds. The scenery was surreal. I took so many pictures and they don’t even do it justice. Ben seemed really passionate and knowledgeable about the environment we were in. I would highly recommend this tour. Ben even took us to our shuttle pick up area which was a different location from his pickup /drop off. We really appreciated that because our tour was done at 8:30 pm and the town was pretty much shut down and we would have had to walk aways by ourselves.

The viewing areas for the fur seals, sea lions, and penguins were very well placed. Both the fur seals and the sea lions were very active. We had a good view of the yellow eyed penguins preening and standing - the tour provided binoculars. Our guide provided a lot of interesting information about the animals, the area, and New Zealand in general . I highly recommend this tour - they met us at the cruise ship shuttle bus drop off - very organized.

Ben was a fantastic tour guide. Saw sea lions, penguins and all sorts of birds. Learned a lot about conservation efforts and local culture. Would highly recommend booking directly with the tour company instead of through the cruise line. (Price was about half what the cruise line charges.) Staff were very responsive to questions via email and accommodating on the day we arrived.
