If you’re looking for a coffee tour that will deepen your knowledge and expose you to interact with local communities off-the-beaten-path, this is for you. The tours take place in the community of San Miguel Escobar in the outskirts of Antigua (20 or 30 minutes) where the coffee growers will lead you through their fields, explain the work behind cultivating coffee, walk you through each processing step from bean to brew, and finish the tour by joining you for a coffee in their home. Along the way, you’ll learn more than just the process behind coffee--you’ll have authentic and transparent conversations with small-scale producers to hear firsthand about their obstacles, triumphs, and goals as coffee growers and experience their persisting enthusiasm and dedication to the coffee industry.

This is a very informative experience for a casual coffee enjoyer like me. The staff has been very attentive and communicative, accommodating my last-minute booking. Gabi has been an amazing interpreter, super helpful and friendly. Ingrid, the farmer we toured with, was incredibly lovely and took her time explaining the entire process of making coffee and all the coffee variety that Guatemala offers. We even got some hands-on experience roasting and grinding the beans, and each of us got a nice cup of pour-over coffee at the end and a 12 oz coffee bag as a souvenir. This has been extremely worth it and, as a bonus point, it's benefiting the local community as well.

A very lovely experience, dealing with one of the cooperative members, they take you to see the plants, you learn how the coffee is harvested and the process of making it to serve in your cup. Mercedes is very kind, and being in her home makes you feel very comfortable; it is clear that she enjoys what she does. Gaby, the girl who translated for English, was also very kind and educational. I recommend the tour 100%, supporting local production and enjoying a delicious coffee at the end of the tour.

Outstanding educational experience with Eduardo and his lovely lovely wife. Mariale, was a great translator and guide. This tour has increased our knowledge of the whole process, from seedling to cup of coffee. I loved the hands on roasting and grinding process. The coffee tour with De La Gente was a great experience.

This experience was absolutely amazing. As an avid coffee lover and coffee culture enthusiast, this was truly something my family and I will never forget. Carlos and his family welcomed us into their home and coffee farm with open arms. We learned so much about the entire coffee-making journey — from the plants themselves to the handcrafted process behind every cup. We especially loved being able to participate and help prepare the coffee ourselves. If you’re looking for a personal, hands-on experience, this is definitely the one for you. Our favorite part was sitting around the table, sharing coffee, stories, and getting to know the family. Thank you so much for such a memorable experience. We already plan to visit again in the future, and we’ve even ordered coffee to the States through De La Gente. 10/10 experience!

This was my second experience with De La Gente coffee tours. It’s a great experience, I was truly surprised that my husband and I got a private tour for the price. Our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about coffee and we learned so much. Our translator Angela was great. I recommend adding the lunch experience. I’ve done it both times, they provide a simple lunch and accommodate dietary needs, it’s a lovely time.

Completely authentic - part of a cooperative, which emphasises harmony with nature - eg. rats not killed! Our De La Gente guide was Andres, who, with his family, runs his own business as part of the cooperative. Our translator Eric was also very good. After a fascinating tour of the plantation and lessons in coffee growing and roasting, we had demos of roasting and grinding by Andres’s wife and daughter-in-law, using traditional methods. And tastings of course. We left with free bags of coffee! A wonderful afternoon's experience.

My partner and I just did the day trip which included a cooking class and coffee tour. We were with the family of Juan Carlos and Christina. Everything was very organized and we felt well taken care of. They invited us into their home. We started with a cooking class of pepián and a chocolate plantain dessert. We got to enjoy the lunch with the husband, wife and translator. Then we walked out to the coffee farm and learned about the plants. And later walked back to the house to prep the coffee for roasting and grinding. Very much enjoyed the experience with our hosts. Also thanks to Gabi, the translator. We had a very lovely time and it was a highlight of our time in Antigua.

This is totally worth the time and money. You hear directly from a family coffee grower and get a sense of what it is like to live in Guatemala and be a coffee grower. Our grower was Alejandro, who was an absolute delight to learn from. He exuded the pride and passion for his work. After he showed his some of his land and plants and talked us through the growing process, he brought us into his home where he and his wife freshly roasted beans and served us a traditional cup of coffee with a champurrada. I’m so grateful to have had this experience and learn from Alejandro, it makes me appreciate each cup of coffee a lot more. I have a better understanding of what it takes to make each cup and how small coffee growers are directly impacted.
