If you’re looking for a coffee tour that will deepen your knowledge and expose you to interact with local communities off-the-beaten-path, this is for you. The tours take place in the community of San Miguel Escobar in the outskirts of Antigua (20 or 30 minutes) where the coffee growers will lead you through their fields, explain the work behind cultivating coffee, walk you through each processing step from bean to brew, and finish the tour by joining you for a coffee in their home. Along the way, you’ll learn more than just the process behind coffee--you’ll have authentic and transparent conversations with small-scale producers to hear firsthand about their obstacles, triumphs, and goals as coffee growers and experience their persisting enthusiasm and dedication to the coffee industry.

5.00Wonderful experience! We started at the coffee grower's house and walked to the coffee plantation to see the plants and learn about the growing and harvesting process. Afterwards, we returned to the house to see how the coffee is processed into the green beans that are then roasted and made into delicious fresh coffee for us to taste! De La Gente supports the farmers directly through tour operations and coffee sales. Definitely recommend this tour!

5.00Alejandro is amazing!! Such a fun activity to do while youre in Antigua! Highly recommend. I learned a lot and definitely gained a deeper appreciation for coffee. This tour also comes with 1 bag of coffee beansᵕ̈ worth it!

5.00The most amazing experience. We were welcomed into Manuel’s home by his family and he gave us a thorough understanding of the coffee growing process. From walking his farm, to picking coffee cherries, roasting and preparing the beans the traditional way in his kitchen, to finally enjoying a cup of the brew with the other guests, it truly was an unforgettable experience. What makes it even better is knowing we’re supporting De La Gente’s incredible work to promote these smaller farmers in the coffee markets. I have to say the coffee we got was nicer than anything I’ve ever had too. Couldn’t recommend more to go if you’re in Antigua!!

5.00Really recommend this tour to coffee lovers! It's shows a real farm to farm coffee making process, from the coffee bloom to harvest, to processing the beans and making coffee. It's so different from the boutique cafe that has some fancy technique and equipment, everything here is simple, old fashioned but great. You will also get a bag of coffee beans! My tour was with Andres, and the interpreter was excellent (I'm so sorry I don't know her name but I know she also works at a bar close to the Arch!)

5.00What an amazing experience! Antigua is becoming more and more popular to travelers, so authentic tours can become harder to find. But if you're looking for something true to the country and completely life-changing, book an activity with De La Gente. We were a group of 9 every single person on the tour said it was one of the best things we did during our 11 day visit to Guatemala. Thank you for having us!

5.00The Coffee Tour with De La Gente was simply amazing! We went to the home of Elisandro, one of the coffee producers that are part of De La Gente and we learned about the end-to-end process from bean to cup. We walked up to his coffee farm, and saw multiple varietals of coffee trees (Catuai, Bourbon, Caturra) and listened to him describing all the work needed to plant, grow, harvest coffee cherries. We had a spanish->english translator with us who did an excellent job. Eventually we went back to the home where Elisandro's wife demonstrated (and allowed us to participate!) how coffee drink has been made from green beans to cup for the past 300 years. Roasting on clay and grinding on volcanic rock. Overall it felt like a very unique and authentic experience.

5.00Great experience - let us experience Guatemala's coffee culture, first visiting the plantation, then roasting coffee together, grinding and then making coffee - the best coffee we've ever had.

5.00My friends and I truly had such a wonderful time during our tour!! Our favorite part was going back to Andrés López's home and drinking coffee with him. Learning about his job and life was very meaningful for us. Erick Pérez was a fantastic interpreter and we enjoyed getting to know him as well walking between the farm and Andrés' home. I would definitely do this tour again, and would recommend it to everyone that enjoys a nice cup of coffee!
