Gangaramaya Temple
Stop At: Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple, 61 Sri Jinaratana Road, Colombo 00200 Sri Lanka Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most important temples in Colombo, Sri Lanka, being a mix of modern architecture and cultural essence. Located on the Beira Lake, it was completed in the late 19th century.
Temple Of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil
Sri Kailasanathar Swami Devashthanam is a kovil hidden inside a bushy surrounding behind the Fort Railway Station. Built during the Portuguese era, it was a family kovil. Apparently, it is the oldest Hindu temple in Colombo. Although it is Sri Kailasanathar, Swami Devashthanam, many still identify it as the kovil at the Captain's Garden. Though I presumed it as an unseen and unknown kovil, we later realised that it is popular even among non-Hindus. The number of Sinhala notices displayed there makes it obvious. The area had been an island with the waters of the Beira Lake surrounding it. Devotees had travelled by boat to reach the temples to worship and make vows. During the Dutch period Captain’s Garden was known as ‘Cilamagoda’ and was an area of great economic activity since the warehouses for cinnamon, pepper, coconut, oil and coir were located in this vicinity

5.00We really enjoyed the tuktuk tour. Our guide Romesh was very friendly and kind. Our arrival was delayed because our cruise ship didn’t arrive at the port but he waited for us for 2 hours. We were in touch with each other. The arrival port was different from what I expected so I had to get the meeting point by taxi. He advised me not to take a strange taxi or tuktuk. Fortunately we got a right taxi. Sometimes the taxis and Tuk Tuk around the port seem to be fishy according to Romesh. Anyway we met Romesh in front of a hotel. He took us nice places efficiently. The food was very spicy but if you like spicy food, you enjoy the local food. The jewelry shop was not bad. Thank you Romesh!

5.00This is a great experience to have an initial view of Colombo. It is comprehensive and safe. Our guide Romesh was very knowledgeable, had good english and safe driver. I personally enjoyed the Hindu and Buddhist temple Sri Kaileswaram and Gangaramaya Temples. Amazing

5.00Romesh was a great guide, was very knowledgeable and entertained our many random questions regarding the area annd Sri Lanka. lunch was adaquate and nice enough, nothing to ride home about. Overall great quick way to see the city and learn the important facts.

5.00On our first day, we decided to explore Colombo city, so we decided to travel around Colombo city by tuk tuk. We chose the Orwell Tuk Tuk company and made a booking through them. Our driver and guide arrived at our destination exactly at the time Our guide and driver Romesh was very knowledgeable about Colombo, his English was very clear, and he answered all our questions. He was a very kind person. He stopped at every historical place in Colombo and informed us about it and explained everything to us. Pettah market was my favorite place busy street. Thank you so much Mr. Romesh Highly Recommend you 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

5.00We booked this Colombo city tour at the last minute after we arrived in Colombo. As soon as we booked, they confirmed the booking, took us by tuk tuk to our hotel and our driver and guide Mr. Romesh was a very nice and polite driver and guide. He answered all our questions and his English was very clear. He showed us all the historical places in Colombo and helped us a lot. He stopped at the places we asked to stop. We were very satisfied. Finally, he gave us a delicious meal and dropped us off at the hotel. Romesh, five stars for you.

5.00Lots of stops so we saw quite a bit of the city and gained an understanding of some of the colonial history from our friendly guide. The Hindu Temple, Red Mosque, Lotus Tower and the streets of Pettah were oour favourites. After the four hours the tour finished with a good and typical local lunch. Much recommended and will look at using their services in the other cities.

5.00Great tour. Our driver Romesh was a really safe and careful driver. He picked us up at our hotel and was very friendly and answered all our questions about Sri Lankan life. The tour goes to all the interesting sites in the city where he explained everything very well. and we finished with a delicious curry lunch. Would definitely recommend this tour.
