Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras is a mix of colonial historical heritage and modernism of a contemporary metropolitan city. Despite its Spanish origins, it does not have the traditional square design of the streets surrounding the central square.
Officially founded on September 29, 1578 under the name of Real de Minas de San Miguel de Tegucigalpa, it was not until 3 centuries later, on October 30, 1880, that it became the capital of the country.
The city of Tegucigalpa has a wide variety of interesting places to visit, among them are cultural, historical, ecological, recreational and fun sites.

Catedral de San Miguel
The cathedral of San Miguel de Tegucigalpa is one of the oldest and most important buildings in the city that is preserved until today in good general condition. The building has a place in Honduran history that is not limited to the sphere of influence of the city of Tegucigalpa but to the entire country, being the church with the greatest popularity and tradition since the early twentieth century. Being an old building, a proposal was made to restore the interior, the atrium, the side patios and the facade: the project has been carried out by the Department of Anthropological Research through the Archeology Section of the Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History .
Plaza Los Dolores
A square that contains enormous features of the history of Tegucigalpa, a walk in time at each cardinal point, that is the Plaza Los Dolores which is located in one of the first neighborhoods of the city. A colorful light source of 16 jets, an imposing sculpture of San Miguel Arcángel, patron of Tegucigalpa and a carpet of mosaics adorn the historic Los Dolores square, turning this public space, which years ago was a scene of informal commerce, in one of the most colorful corners of the capital's historic center.

1.00Didn't get the chance to know it. They cancelled all the tours. Came to Honduras and couldn't get the chance to know it.

5.00The tour was excellent and helpful to learn about Honduras's past and present. The museum of national identity is worth to mention for providing us a look to the pre-colonial era and Mayan culture. Our guide Rene was great- knowledgeable and attentive. He presented a sense of hope for the country’s future. We had really a great time!
