3.00The tour guide was fantastic. Doriana was extremely knowledgeable (a PHD archaeologist who actually uncovered historical artifacts in the Roman forum) BUT, I received an email a week or so before our tour was scheduled indicating that Rome had issued too many tickets for the underground part of the tour, and that we were not going to be able to see underground. We booked this tour months in advance and by the time they communicated with us about the change, we were unable to find another tour. The underground part of the tour is what we were looking forward to the most, and it’s one of the main reasons we chose this tour. We also paid extra to have a small group of 6 people or less, and we ended up with a much larger group. In a nutshell, we ended up paying for two things that were important to us, that were switched at the last minute.

Colosseum arena floor not underground

4.00We booked this 6 months in advance but were told a week before the tour the underground was overbooked and we were bumped. We received a partial refund and were able to walk on the arena floor instead of the underground. Our guide Alessandro was 5 stars. He was very knowledgeable from his background as an archeologist. He used an ipad with pictures to help with history on some of the sites we visited. The Roman Forum portion was limited and we didn’t go up to the Palatine Hill area. Alessandro took us to great photo locations and took our pictures. Overall 4 stars due to not getting the underground tour as originally booked.
