Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre
No trip to Jasper is complete without a visit to the famed Columbia Icefield, the largest ice field in the Canadian Rockies. Jaw-dropping views of towering mountains, rocks, ice and pure white snow as far as the eye can see. From the Discovery Centre, you will board a specialized Ice Explorer that will take you down a frozen roadway to the Athabasca Glacier. Along the way, your driver will provide commentary about glaciers, their impact upon the local ecosystem, and the environmental changes rapidly transforming these massive scenic wonders. Once you reach the Athabasca Glacier, you will have the opportunity to hop out, walk along the glacier and even fill up your water bottle with pure, pristine snowmelt. Once the tour is complete, you will head over to the Glacier Skywalk, where you will walk along the glass bottom walkway out over the cliff's edge. After stopping to appreciate the incredible view and capture a few photographs, it's back to the Discovery Center.

3.00Great little tour! We were not taken to the Skywalk so I felt it was expensive to have the bus ride to an area where I saw people walking to! We were given no reason as to why the advertised skywalk was omitted. Disappointing

5.00Fantastic trip, the ride to the glacier was great and then being able to walk on the glacier and fill bottle with pure glacial water was great. The surrounding scenery is amazing and definitely worth the time and money

5.00My wedding anniversary was perfect because of the care and attention I received from my tour guide Gracie and operator Archie. The ice odyssey excursion was incredible due to knowledgeable and attentive staff. Interesting facts and many laughs made it so memorable.

5.00A great adventure onto the glacier - we went at the end of May and it snowed! Our guide Logan was excellent and made the whole experience fun and informative (Jennifer your son did good) The skywalk was great too - walking in the glass floor was amazing. An excellent way to spend 3 hours on the way to Jasper from Banff.

5.00We had a wonderful time going to different places. One thing I love the most was hiking in the snow to see Peyto Lake. The Columbia Icefield tour was also great.Arun was an excellent tour guide. He made sure that we had our safety gears before hiking. He's courteous and knowledgeable. We appreciate Arun for making our vacation more fun and memorable.

4.00My family enjoyed our day at the Columbia icefields. It's a cool experience to be in the icefield adventure vehicles and on the glacier. The facts and history that the guides share are great. Our drivers Chris and Harry were very friendly and knowledgeable. The Cafeteria is decent for a quick bite. Cons: the busses and ice adventurers were quite hot - seriously lacking airflow. You are packed in like sardines so get ready to snuggle. Icewalk is just ok - neat experience to do once but I don't feel the need to do it again. It feels forced on you.

5.00We did the Columbia Glacier Tour today and had an absolutely wicked time! The whole experience was incredible, but the guides really made it memorable. Logan, our glacier driver (the one with the great beard!), was knowledgeable, funny, and enthusiastic. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does, and he made the glacier portion both informative and entertaining. Matt, our bus driver (the one with the awesome hair!), was equally fantastic—friendly, funny, and full of interesting information throughout the trip. He does need new material as he reused one of Aaron’s jokes :-) Both Logan and Matt did an amazing job of creating a fun atmosphere while sharing their knowledge about the area and the glacier. The scenery was breathtaking, the experience was unforgettable, and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area! 5/5.
