It was a tour that only Georgia could experience. I joined because I wanted to see the article on Casa Brutus. There is a similar tour company called Brutal tours, which is cheaper by about 5 €, and this one includes hotel transfers, and Brutal chose Homo soviet because it was a little distance from the hotel at Liberty Square after meeting and disbanding. On the Private Tour, our guide was Mr. Davit, who left at around 10 a.m. and returned to the hotel at 14:00, I think. I think it is easy to work out if you have plans after that because you are on time. We visited The chronicle of Georgia, The museum of archaeology, Bank of Georgia Headquarters (reception desk but you can go inside), Trade union cultural center, Tbilisi sky-bridge, Industrial college (this place was almost abandoned) and in a little extra time we drove around the old town where we could see Narikala Fortress. It seems that you can go around on your own, but according to another tour guide who joined the day before, it takes quite a while and is hard without a car. Also, Palace of celemonies was not available due to its private space. It is a building left by Russia, so I think Georgians have mixed feelings historically, but if you love architecture, I highly recommend you to join. Mr Davit is very kind, he knows history, he is good at photography and takes jaunty pictures (and he is handsome w).

David was a wonderful guide to Tbilisi's history and architecture. He is a great story teller and was able to capture Georgia's rich and colorful past, its problematic relationship with its giant neighbor to the north and its amazing architectural features. He was able to help us to see his city in a wonderful new light. Highly recommended!

We were curious about everything and our guide David was knowledgeable and patient to answer all of our questions. We learnt so much about both the history and current situation of this incredible city full of unique architectures.

As a solo traveller who loathes large format whistlestop excusions I came to Tbilisi desperate to find a guide/ small group tour that would uncover a more complicated and nuanced side of the city. As an urbanist and lover of history, I was looking to learn more about the imprint communism left on the built environment in Georgia and how ideology influenced and was disseminated by design. And I was hoping to find a way to do this without blowing my budget on a bespoke private itinerary. Enter David and Homosoviet tours who went out of his way to accommodate my travel schedule. David's passion for interrogating Soviet era design and culture is palpable and we spent 5 hours conversing about a whole myriad of subjects from the IDPs to the role of the Church in today's society all behind the backdrop of awe-inspiring architecture across Tbilisi. David is incredibly afflable and professional which is a hard balance to strike and is generous enough to share family history and his own political observations with inquiring guests. I came out of the tour having learned so much and having even more questions about this fascinating country and the region at large. I highly recommend for those interested in architecture, urban planning, design and just social history writ large from a studied local perspective. Thank you, David!

(English below) We discovered HomoSoviet Tours (for Homo Sovieticus) in a press article and we booked a tour the day before for the next day where an appointment was made at Rose Revolution Square at 10am. A beautiful orange Lada was waiting for us with David at the wheel. David? A 24-year-old concierge in a large hotel in his spare time, who has been launching this tour activity since the summer of 2019 on the theme of architectural traces of the Soviet period in Tbilisi. We stayed 6 hours in his company (with two American visitors)! Between anecdotes about the country, tales of whole sections of Georgia’s history, visits to buildings more incredible than the last (Chronicles of Georgia, headquarters of the Bank of Georgia, former seaside hotel, iconic buildings of the Soviet era, etc.), you will not see the hours pass. David is as charming as he is passionate, this tour is really essential as an introduction to a stay in Tbilisi or in the country! ***//*** We discovered HomoSoviet Tours (for Homo Sovieticus) in a press article and we booked a tour the day before for the next day where appointments were made at Rose Revolution Square at 10am. I am so grateful to David for his historical knowledge, enthousiam, energy and generosity! We first spent a day with him around Tbilisi, were so impressed that we booked a second day to Chiatura. This was again amazing. All these places that we would never have discovered by ourselves. A visit with David will make you see Georgia with different eyes!

We can only confirm what others have said before, David is an amazing person and guide. He knows so much about the Georgian history, also linked to his own family. He has a great sense of humor and is extremely generous. He showed us places we would never have discovered by ourselves like insides of old Soviet buildings. We will definitely book another tour with him !!!

We did both the "Insiders" and "Concrete Giants" tours in Tbilisi. Alexander, our guide for the Insiders tour, was very knowledgable about the history of Tbilisi. He was very flexible and added some additional sights to the tour, combining the insiders tour with a tour of the old town and other parts of town. We went to a great restaurant for lunch, where we sampled authentic Georgian food. David, our guide for the Concrete Giants tour, was fantastic - one of the best guides I've ever had. We learned so much about Tbilisi during the Soviet era, and his life experience - and that of his parents and grandparents - was truly educational. On this tour, we visited Soviet monuments and residences and saw interesting mosaics and went to other sights off the beaten path, and ended our morning tour with lunch at a restaurant that, I'm sure, doesn't see many tourists. The food was amazing! We loved our tour - and David's company - so much, we kept him on for the afternoon and did a totally bespoke tour, visiting Georgian fashion designers and local shops. HomoSoviet tours is the BEST!

I cannot emphasize enough how fantastic this tour was! David was both knowledgeable and very interesting in his delivery of the sites. We got a thorough understanding of life in Tbilisi during the Soviet times up to current day. He took us to the Chronicles of Georgia which was amazing as well as Soviet era apartments where we went inside the various apartments. We ended up having David stay with us the whole day so he could take us to stores with Georgian made goods. Don't miss this tour when visiting Tbilisi!

The concrete giants tour was great. We really enjoyed zipping around Tblisi is David's orange Lada. He was super informative, packed with interesting tidbits about Tblisi and soviet times. I would highly recommend if you are at all curious about the Soviet Union and peeling back the iron curtain.
