Hello, my name is Abdou. I am a Moroccan person food lover grew up between the old medina and the wonderful beach of ESSAOUIRA. I have learned the basic of the cooking from my mother when i was child , And thats give the opportunity to work as a shef in many restaurants in many cities in Morocco
I would love to share with you everything about my culture , especially food and drink

We will meet in frant of (dar al mouwaten) thanWe will start by shopping in the market where the locals buy the freshest ingredients. We will purchase meat, pastries, vegetables, and spices from my friends at the shops. You can choose your ingredients for the tajine – either beef, lamb, chicken, fish, or vegetarian. *If you would like fish , please let me know beforehand, so I can prepare it. Then we will head to my home, where I will make the traditional Moroccan mint tea and we will prepare the food and cook together. See you soon

5.00This is our first time doing a cooking experience whilst on holiday, it was an amazing opportunity to get to see authentic Morocco and get to learn more about the culture and life in Morocco. ABDOU was fantastic, we got to go around his local market to select the ingredients to make our Lamb Tagine and then were taken to his lovely home to cook. The food was amazing, we learned so much from his and will definitely do something like this again on our next trip. Thank you Abdou for an experience.

5.00Abdou is adorable, we did the shopping together at first. We are already bathed in Moroccan culture.. arrived at Abdou, everything is so well organized. We made 4 dishes we were 7. The quantity was huge, the experience incredible. It is funny warm friendly and teaches us a lot about Morocco, Sur Essaouira, brief experience to do widely!

5.00We had a wonderful time cooking with Abdul! The whole experience was great starting with the shopping. We enjoyed being in Chef Abdul’s home, learning how to cook tagine, drinking tea, playing music, and eating our culinary creation. Highly recommend! Abdul even gave us recommendations for spices, shopping and eating in the Medina. This was my favorite activity of our trip to Essaouira!

5.00We had the absolute pleasure of a Moroccan cooking class with Abdou in Essaouira, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! From the moment we arrived, Abdou made us feel completely at home with his warm hospitality and knowledge of Moroccan cuisine. The experience was hands-on and engaging—we started with a visit to the local market where Abdou selected the freshest ingredients. Back in the kitchen in his home, we prepared a delicious variety of dishes, including a mouthwatering lamb, fish and chicken tagine, and of course he made us welcome with traditional mint tea and freshly baked biscuits. What really made the class special was Abdou himself. He was not only an excellent teacher but also a wonderful host, sharing bits of Moroccan culture, history, and family traditions along the way. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. By the end of the class, we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labour together, we walked away with new cooking skills, recipes I’ll definitely make at home, and a deeper appreciation for Moroccan hospitality. Highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Essaouira—you’ll leave full, happy, and inspired!

5.00Abdou is really friendly, generous and friendly. We spent a great evening with him and the other two people we were paired with for the course. We each prepare a tagine (which we choose in advance) and the portions are really hearty (possibility to bring home, one more). I might have liked to have a little more theoretical information, I sometimes felt like a cook’s aide who only serves to cut vegetables, but it was still a lot of fun. During the baking, we were treated to tea and cookies made by his sister. We recommend!
Such a great experience and the most delicious tagine we have ever eaten. ❤️

5.00We enjoyed every minute of this experience. We loved going to the market and then the cooking experience in Abdul’s home. We cooked a chicken and a lamb tagine and they both tasted amazing. Abdul is very knowledgeable about cooking and about Essaouria. He gave us lots of good tips about where to eat and places to go. He even taught us some Arabic! This was such a great way to spend a morning. Do not hesitate to book this cooking experience - we loved it.

5.00Immersive experience of cooking from scratch with our host Abdou. A really enjoyable morning choosing our supplies in the local market, including the chicken and then assembling the ingredients into two tagines. We shared our experience with another French family which made the day even more fun. Isaac provided us with some delicious cake and treated us to his guitar accompaniment. Abdou is a great host, patient and fun, and would highly recommend.

5.00What a wonderful few hours. Abdou was an amazing host. As well as a cookery class and fabulous meals, he was really friendly and welcoming and gave a taste of life in Essaouira for the locals. Highly recommended.
