You can not speak about Gjirokastra without enjoying its traditional typical food. It will be a unique experience making your mouth water and bringing back your appetite. Their tastes are similar to the preparation of centuries-old recipes which you will find and prepare instantly while you are in Gjirokastra, in addition you will taste a meal that you have just learnt to prepare. In this local experience, you will learn to cook two of the oldest typical Gjirokastra recipes and a dessert. We will share with you the secret ingredient, as we have inherited it from generation to generation from family tradition. You will get acquainted with the spices and teas of our mountains, their use and benefits. During the tour you will also enjoy traditional appetizers as well as various drinks, everything mixed with local history and folklore. Typical food to enjoy: - qifqi , pie(byrek) meatballs (qofte) etc. You will take the written recipe and what you cooked at home. You can find us very easily, in the heart of the medieval bazaar, with the open doors , the sleeves rolled up and a warm welcome making you feel at home.

5.00Really fun ~1hr cooking class where we learnt a lot about the culture of Gjirokaster and Albania and then ate our delicious meal in the restaurant after. Thank you for the great experience!

4.00We enjoy our cooking class. The recipe were very tastefully and easy to do. A written version of recipe would be helpful in order to cook them once we are back home.

4.00There were two of us and we had a fun pressure cooking class. After about 60 minutes we had cooked three courses and were allowed to sit at the table. The dishes were simple but very tasty. We can only recommend the course!

4.00The place was hard to find as the address saved on Viator is wrong. The location is in town at the Edua restaurant. When I arrived, they did not know I was coming. I highly recommend contacting them prior to booking or arriving depending on how strict your travel plans are. They can also organise from the shop front. Luckily I was flexible and came back the following day. Once there and organised, I had an amazing time. We cooked 3 traditional dishes, starter, main and dessert. We laughed, I heard about their traditions and of course cooked. The dishes weren't difficult but very tasty 😋 something I can do at home. Instructions were lead and follow mostly because I was too excited to wait for the verbal instructions 😄. The chef did not speak English, but her smile will stay with me forever. It's a family operated business and you will have one of the family translating for you. The people were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I would do it again and again.

5.00It was a great experience to cook some of the traditional food. It was fun making the food together with a local cook and see the restaurant kitchen from inside. It didn’t take us 2h 30 though. I think it was in between 1h and 1h 30 for cooking. Afterwards you eat the meal you prepared by yourself. The food tasted really good.

3.00I don’t think it was the cooking classes fault but that of Viator as the host did not know we were coming. However, I also tried to contact via WhatsApp and although I got an initial reply my follow up WhatsApp was read but ignored. We got told to come back in four hours which we did. We made the Osa which was great and interesting with good teaching methods. However the blurb says you will learn how to cook and make three dishes - after the pasta we were told it was the end. They also had no record that we had already paid through Viator so it was awkward as the host kept asking for payment and I had to get up my bank records to show we had paid. Like I said not sure who was at fault here.
