Government House Museum
Government House dominates the west end of the Town Plaza, a unique Spanish land use component lying within a National Historic Landmark District. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen. Since 1598, a government building has stood on this site with a view of the harbor landing, accommodating administrative headquarters and residences of colonial governors appointed by the Crowns of Spain, then Britain, then Spain again. After Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1821, this current Government House served as a courthouse and briefly as a Capitol of the new Territory of Florida.

5.00It is such a fun experience. You get to walk around the beautiful downtown St. Augustine - and get historical information - as well as visit 5 excellent locations of sampling wine and delicious food.

3.00Nina was very personable. She made us all feel very welcome. She worked hard to accommodate those on the tour who had special needs. However, I go on food tours to learn about the food. There was only one place where we got a real explanation of the food—the Cuban restaurant for dessert. The tour leader or the hosts need to take on this responsibility. Leaving the tour, I had no idea if St. Augustine has a cuisine. The food and drinks in each stop were great.

5.00Rene provided an exceptional tour. We also enjoyed our fellow companions, Mark and Sue. Together, we five had a lovely time filled with delicious food, wine, mead, and fun/interesting/informative history lessons. Wow! Rene is a fount of knowledge. All in all, it was a very enjoyable afternoon that flew by too quickly. Thank you!

5.00Great food. Lots of very interesting history. In fact although I’ve been to Saint Augustine several times before I saw a lot of new things. I didn’t even know existed there on the tour. We all enjoyed it and tour was just the right length. Decent amount of walking but a nice pace with lots of stops. I would do it again if we go back.

5.00I took a leap and went on this tour as a solo traveler in my 30s. It was fantastic. I had a small group during the day and with Rene as our guide, I felt comfortable and included right away. The food and wine were great, and I found some great spots in St Augustine to return to when I come back someday with the rest of my family. It was a wonderful experience and a highlight of my vacation.
Wonderful way to spend a few hours in St. Augustine!

5.00Absolutely wonderful! We had such a terrific experience. The couples we were on the tour with were like being with old friends. Our tour guy Rene’ was so kind and knowledgeable. All the spots he took us to were perfect. We can’t wait until next year to do it again. Asking for Rene for sure! 😊
