We were raised and grew up in Mesara Plain, the heart of South Crete, where the essence of Cretan living and diet begins. Rooted in a legacy of generations within a rural family, we hold the knowledge of age-old farming secrets and its countless benefits.
Alongside my mother, we would love to guide you in our way of life and make you feel like a member of our family. Immerse yourself in our world; visit our farm, wander through our olive groves, and explore the greenhouses that whisper the story of our heritage.
The highlight? A live cheese-making demonstration by my mum, featuring the time-honored art of crafting mizithra. Experience the warmth of freshly made cheese, a flavor passed down through generations. Indulge in authentic Cretan cuisine prepared by my mum, and perhaps, meet more family members!

We carefully designed this tour for those who wish to see Crete through the eyes of a local family!The journey begins with an engaging walking tour in our sustainable family olive groves and greenhouses. Discover the secrets of olive cultivation, the meticulous process of harvesting, and the art of producing the finest extra virgin olive oil and experience a premium olive oil tasting! Explore how we cultivate with sustainable way our land & greenhouses, learn about the variety of vegetables, herbs and fruits grown, and understand why these local products hold significance not only for local markets but also for the rest part of Greece. The walking tour concludes in an outdoor space beneath a beautiful wooden roof, surrounded by olive trees on one side and a lush garden on the other. There, we’ll have the pleasure of meeting my lovely mother, Mama Stela, and savoring authentic Cretan food prepared by her! Of course, Raki, is an integral part of our meal! You might even get the chance to meet more members of my family. A standout moment during our tour is witnessing my mom demonstrate the crafting of Cretan cheese, followed by the delightful experience of tasting it!

5.00My boyfriend and I did the tour in September 2020. Marianna is a super friendly and warm person! She told us a lot about agriculture, so we learned a lot about growing olives, tomatoes and other vegetables. You can exchange ideas with her and learn a lot about life in Crete. After a walk through the olive trees and the greenhouses we met Marianna's mother, who is equally warm. During a picnic among the olive trees we were allowed to eat their typical Greek specialties. It was incredibly delicious!!! Overall, we had a great afternoon and can recommend everyone to book Marianna's tour! We wish Marianna and her family all the best and we hope you will realize all ideas and plans!

5.00The tour was really nice! Especially because it's a private tour so it was just the two of us. They prepared real Cretan food which we had not tried before on the island. It was really delicious! The stories about the farm were really interesting and it was great to learn more about olives. We were so pleased we went on this tour and we highly recommend it

5.00Super recommended for anyone who wants to learn a little local culture. You are accompanied throughout by Marianna, a very dear and courteous young woman. First we were guided through the local monastery and invited into its history. After the subsequent tour of the olive fields and traditional greenhouses followed an excellent picnic among the olive trees. Marianne’s family is just incredibly lovely and accommodating. The food just delicious and traditional. For those who want to immerse themselves in Greek family life this is perfect! Highly recommended!

5.00Marianna and her mother were so kind!! I loved cooking with them. It was great learning how to make authentic Cretan food! And it was delicious! We even made and tried snails for the first time. Marianna got us out of our comfort zone and it was a positive surprise! Snails are actually quite delicious!! Who would’ve thought?! Haha. The evening was wonderful and we still talk and look back on a great activity we did in Crete! If you want to taste, but also make authentic delicious food? Book here!!! You won’t regret it!

5.00We had such a great time on the food tour. The food tasted amazing and there was so much of it! Marianna even adjusted the time to meet our schedule which we definitely appreciated. It was a pleasure getting to know her and her mom. We would highly recommend it to everyone- couples, families, friends etc.

5.00There were 5 of us on our visit inc a 10, 13 & 16 year old & we all really enjoyed it. You learn a lot about the Cretan way of life & how big agriculture is in the south. I’ve also never seen watermelons or pomegranates grow so that was also quite interesting! Marianna was lovely as were her grandparents, mum & dad. The picnic was really traditional & set in lovely surroundings & we watched her grandma make cheese, we then tasted it - enjoyed it more with their local honey! A lovely finishing touch was the gift bags that we each received as we left - a really superb tour & would happily try another. Thank you Marianne to you & your family

5.00Awesome tour through the greenhouses and the olive groves. It gives you the opportunity to learn a lot about Cretan food and the local agricultural life. The picnic at the end was definitely the highlight of the tour, with really great traditional plates at a unique location. Marianna and her family were very kind and helpful. Totally worths a try :)

5.00We had a fantastic tour through the monestary, olivegroves and greenhouses, and the tour concluded with a picnic located in the olivegroves during the beautiful sunset. A unique location! Marianna and her mother and grandmother prepared the best homecooked Greek food we ever tasted! Marianna and her family are the kindest people! Highly recommend this tour!!!

5.00Booking with Cretan Vibes has been an amazing experience from start to finish. I spoke to Marianna many weeks before our trip to organise a surprise tour for my partners birthday. Marianna went out of her way to help us organise public transport to get to the village of Mires (as we were staying in Heesonissos), all the way down to collecting us from Moires square as we got off at the wrong stop 🙈 After a visit to the local monastery where we learnt a little history about the local village, we walked through the olive groves. During our walk, Marianna spoke to us about the process of making extra virgin olive oil. She then took us for a tour around the family greenhouses where we picked a melon to eat at our picnic. A little further along, a picnic had been set up for us under an olive tree, where Marianna's mum was cooking some traditional Cretan dishes. The whole family joined us, and grandma showed us how she makes her traditional homemade cheese. (It is amazing, I had to have two bowls) Unlike many other yours, this was a really laid back, rustic tour, where you get to see the real Crete and experience how the locals live. We couldn't think of a better way to end our holiday, and with some lovely people. Thank you so much Marianna & Family. X
