"Strategies to Avoid the Crowds at Cu Chi Tunnels"
- We recommend starting early.
- The Cu Chi Tunnels attract visitors daily, becoming particularly congested on weekends and Vietnamese holidays. It's not uncommon to find long lines at every stop, making for a packed experience on any given day.
- A half-day usually suffices. Aim to reach the tunnels either before 8:30 AM or around 2:30 PM. By this time, the morning queues have dwindled, and the afternoon temperature is more pleasant.

Cu Chi Tunnels
8:00: We will pick you up at your hotel to start the Cu Chi Tunnels Half-Day Tour. We arrive in Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc). Then we will watch a propaganda film a wartime propaganda film showing how local guerilla fighters were “American Killing Heroes” (a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed). We then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels in Cu Chi. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500-pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. Also, you can try real gun shooting for extra (only for over 18 year-olds). At 02.30 pm – 03.00 pm, we arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and finish Cu Chi Tunnels Half-Day Tour.

5.00We had the pleasure of visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels with Matthew as our guide, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Matthew arranged everything for our trip perfectly, taking care of all the details so that my girlfriend and I could simply enjoy the day. Matthew’s command of the English language is absolutely excellent. His explanations were clear, engaging, and easy to follow throughout the entire tour. What really stood out was his depth of knowledge. He shared a great deal about Vietnam’s history and politics, and it was clear that he has a broad general knowledge and a genuine passion for explaining his country’s story. One of Matthew’s greatest strengths is his chronological storytelling. The way he structured the historical narrative made it incredibly easy to visualize what life was like 50 years ago during the war. Rather than just presenting facts, he brought the history to life. Matthew also showed a great deal of emotional intelligence. He was very respectful and mindful of the fact that visitors come from different backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and political views. He explained sensitive historical topics in a balanced and thoughtful way, which made the experience comfortable and meaningful for everyone. And as a fun side note: Matthew clearly knows a lot about English football. However, I might not recommend discussing it with him if you are a Manchester United fan! (Just kidding.) Overall, this was a 10/10 experience and I would highly recommend Matthew to anyone visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels.

5.00Highly recommend this tour! Matthew, our tour guide, really made it a memorable experience. He was knowledgeable, kind and engaging. We had a great time with him and learned a lot about the history of Vietnam. At the Cu Chi site Matthew went out of his way to avoid the crowds which gave us a lot of space to take in the surroundings at our own pace. Also a very comfortable and safe drive back and forth from our hotel.

5.00The tour guide James was very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He also was very energetic and took the time to try to get to know all of us throughout the tour. The private van was very nice and it was cool to experience the sites with such a small group. Overall very interesting experience!

5.00We really enjoyed our private tour of the Cu Chi tunnels today!!! Ni was our guide and she was absolutely AMAZING!!! She did an awesome job at explaining everything… we learned so much!!! Ni is also an incredible photographer!! I would highly recommend this tour and Ni as your guide!!

5.00We wanted to avoid the crowds and large groups, and booked the a private tour as a couple. We were picked up from our hotel by a very comfortable car on time as per the message sent the day prior. Matthew was our guide for the day, and even though the journey was approx 1.30 / 2hrs each way, he was personable and chatty throughout. We made a small diversion to stop at a centre for those impacted by Agent Orange, though I was sceptical we both agreed it was worth the visit and we purchased a small item though there was no obligation to do so. We were at the tunnels for approx 2hrs. And as a small group we were able to skip ahead of the large groups, and make our way around with the guidance of Matthew. He personalised the tour to cover our interests, answered lots of questions and was extremely knowledgeable. Overall a great day out, and would highly recommend.

5.00We are two couples (four friends) who went on a private tour with Bunny. After two weeks in Vietnam, we had been exposed to a variety of different tour guides - - and being with Bunny was so refreshing!! She was highly informative, yet still entertaining and fun to be with. Her English was fluent and easy to understand. Best of all she gave us exactly what we asked for. Due to an appointment later in the day, we only had two hours - no more no less - to spend at the tunnels. She gave us a very thorough yet efficient tour - - explaining everything succinctly- - and always with sweet humor. I am happy to recommend her and give her five stars!
