Meet your driver at your Amman hotel, and travel by private, leisure air-conditioned vehicle to the River Jordan with your own private English-Speaking Driver who doubles up as your guide. On route, soak in views of Jordan’s landscapes, and pull up at Bethany Beyond the Jordan River, known as “Al-Maghtas” in Arabic, the site on the eastern bank of the river where it’s believed Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
The Baptism Site Of Jesus Christ
Meet up with a local guide, and take a tour of the riverbanks and key excavated ruins, learning how the site was sanctified as the place of Jesus’ baptism by the Vatican and a visit by Pope John Paul II in 2000. Drink in the powerful sense of spirituality, and see the remnants of Roman and Byzantine churches, caves, wells, and baptismal pools. As you walk, listen as your guide explains why archaeologists believe that it was here that John the Baptist lived, preached, and performed baptisms. Hear more about this famous Christian pilgrimage spot and how it is held holy in all three major religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam for being the believed site of the Prophet Elijah’s ascension to heaven. Afterward, reconvene with your driver and return to Amman, where your tour ends with a hotel drop-off. Please note: the Bethany in this trip should not be confused with Bethany in Jerusalem, where it's believed that Mary Magdalene lived and Lazarus rose from the dead.

5.00We had such an incredible day with Basel our driver. Basel picked us up perfectly on time, with some water in the car for us. He explained the plan for the day and answered all our questions about the sites and Jordan in general (and advised on our future travel plans). His English was perfect and we felt safe and comfortable the whole day (his driving was excellent). We joined a larger group tour at the baptism site, and had plenty of time at the site. Then we were taken to the Dead Sea Spa hotel, which was beautiful with good facilities for showering and changing after. We were not rushed at all and had time to eat lunch at the pool restaurant after our time at the dead sea. It was a lovely day, I'm not massively religious but can imagine it being even better if the baptism site holds more spiritual meaning for you. At the baptism site you can go buy a white "dress" to wear to get into the river. The Palestinian side of the river is only a few meters away, which is closer than I expected and there were some people getting baptised on the other side.

5.00This tour has the perfect itinerary for a day trip from Amman. Not only do you see and float in the Dead Sea, but you go to the Bethany site on the Jordan River where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. The museums by Bethany give you a perspective of where events took place on the Jordan side of the river. It was super informative. Sami was so knowledgeable and fun that he made our day!

3.00Our tour was conducted by a driver not a tour guide who continually wanted us to do what he wanted to do for his own benefit The baptism site tour was conducted by a guide at the site We paid for an upgrade to the Dead Sea resort and wanted to spend some time there but were constantly feeling pressured to move on We told him on numerous occasions that we wanted to have lunch at the resort (at our cost) but all we got was we go to Amman for lunch so I had to be quite firm and say no We drove at snail’s pace to the baptism site and then to the Dead Sea which we thought was wasting our time To top the day off we had to pull up to buy Dead Sea products and be subjected to hard sell A day we really looked forward to that really didn’t meet expectations due to the drivers actions 😢

5.00Great time with our driver/guide Amer Ramoni. Jordan Baptism site tour was well organized and we were able to wade into the river. The Dead Sea resort had excellent facilities, floated in the sea, and yummy lunch. Amer was very entertaining !! Good job !!

5.00Hafez was the best tour guide one could ask for. I did not want to leave his company as he even showed me about the city of Amman after the tour which was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had as I was able to put my entire body in the Jordan river where jesus was baptized. Hafez was so knowledgeable about history of Jordan and other things. He even took me to see the highest building in Amman and waited for me. The hotel experience of this tour was awesome with a. All you can eat buffet at the holiday inn at the desf sea. An experience one should not miss in this beautiful country of Jordan.

5.00Mr.Hasan was above amazing , he catered to my every need, he made me feel safe and comfortable being a woman traveling alone. He spoiled me by making sure that I had a nice cup of hot tea before we start any tour. He was not just a tour guide but I came to see him as a friend, we laughed and talked about our families. He took me to Mount Nebo and it was truly an experience I was not prepared for, I think I cried all the way back to the hotel and Mr.Hasan was simply lovely about the American in his back seat falling apart.

5.00The day tour to Baptism Site and Dead Sea was the last leg of our Jordan trip. Our driver Khaled was friendly and professional. We did not have to worry about anything regarding the Baptism site guide and Dead Sea hotel check in to use the amenities. A special shout out to Khaled for also recommending a great store for buying Dead Sea souvenirs. I highly recommend taking this 6 hour tour if you are not staying overnight in Dead Sea.
