Madaba Mosaic Map
Departure is from Amman. After pick up from your hotel, hop into a climate-controlled vehicle with a private English-speaking driver and Wi-Fi on board. Observe and gaze at Jordan’s desert landscapes as you travel south to Madaba. The driver will assist you with places of interest and particular information on the route, however, will not act as a guide. Upon arrival, discover this ancient mosaic town with a history spanning back to the 2nd century. The most well-known is the mosaic map of Jordan and the Holy Land of the 6th century in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George; marked with points related to historical stories mentioned in the bible.

Visit the historic Catholic Church of Saint John the Baptist, with its beautiful Bell Tower for a breath-taking view of Madaba. Visit its underground museum memorial of Saint John the Baptist. Free time to explore a mosaic workshop, if interested.

5.00I was completely satisfied with the self-guided tours and with my transportation expert for the day. The experience was safe and pleasant with zero rushing. I took my time at each stop and lingered leisurely to explore at my own pace. I would definitely repeat the experience!

5.00The sites were as described. The only disappointment was the Baptism Site was unexpectedly closed. Ashram, my driver, was extremely apologetic, even though not his fault. He offered to take me to a few other local sites in Amman to make up for my disappointment. I do feel the price is a bit much since no entrance fees are included and once at the sites, you are on your own, no guide. I was very pleasantly surprised to have a clean, pleasant smelling car…no residual smoke smell, as most vehicles in Amman have. Ashram was an excellent driver with extensive local knowledge.

5.00It was a beautiful and historical route. Our driver was an extraordinary man—friendly and attentive. The three of us (my wife, my child, and I) discussed many topics with him, ranging from history to everyday life. He is an excellent English speaker with the deep knowledge of a professional tour guide.
