Old Bazaar - Skopje
Our day tour to Skopje will start with pick up from your centrally located hotel/accommodation in Sofia at 08:00 am. After approximately 4 hours of drive, we will reach Skopje. During the long drive, you will learn the Bulgarian point of view regarding the history of the region. Then you will have two hours guided tour of the city made by a local Macedonian guide. You will have the chance to hear the stories about Yugoslavia and the modern way of life in the country from a native, which will make your experience much more fulfilled. In addition, you will compare the two historical interpretations and make your own conclusions. The highlights you will visit are the Old fortress, Sultan Murat Mosques, and the Old Bazaar, where we will have the chance to see Caravanserais (inns) from the Ottoman period when Skopje was one of the main trade centers on the Balkans.

5.00Amazing way to visit another country in one day. The transportation was very comfortable, both the driver and the guide in Macedonia were extremely nice and knowledgable and overall the tour was very enjoyable. If you have extra time in Sofia, this is the perfect tour to take.

5.00This was a very enjoyable day to Skopje where we had 4+ hours to go on a guided tour of the city, looking at all the iconic statues and get a lot of history. A highlight was visiting Mother Teresa’s museum. We enjoyed the marketplace and our pork kabobs lunch. Our driver was exceptionally personable and a pleasure to be around. Highly recommend!

4.00If you are into exploring, I would highly recommend this tour. You get to see some of the countryside of Bulgaria and North Macedonia on the drive. Be aware that the drive is speedy, so “hold onto your hats”! Skopje is a unique city. It feels like a city looking to recreate its history after the devastation of WWII and a massive earthquake in 1963. It’s city of statues representing its heritage, a history challenged initially by Greece and now by Bulgaria. Lena, our guide, was fantastic. She is very knowledgeable, about the region and, obviously, Skopje. She provided a balanced and thoughtful tour of the city.

4.00We had a great drive to and Skopje. There was a short break stop just before crossing the border and the same stop on the way back. Our driver was great, knowledgeable and it was a small group! The walking tour was really nice in Skopje, lots of time to walk and take pictures, don’t feel rushed. Tour guide was hard to hear and understand at times but was friendly and didn’t mind repeating themself.
An accessible day trip to Skopje.

4.00Great opportunity for travelers with the goal to experience as many countries as possible in their life of global travel. A bit of a long day of travel, but provides an adequate amount of time to explore Skopje, with an informative summary of the city’s, and country’s, history.. The drive was beautiful at this time of year and our driver/guide Demu was great! Local guide for walking tour was also informative.

5.00Drive to Skopje from Sophia is very beautiful it was long day but our guide and driver Rosem kept us busy with stories and history. Rosem is very knowledgeable, friendly and caring . Our guide Lena in Skopje was very nice and friendly. Overall this was a great unforgettable experience. Thanks everyone.

5.00Theodore is a very knowledgeable and impressive young man. He came across more as a historian than a guide. His breadth and depth of knowledge is indeed immense. He is also impeccable in his manners and choice of words. He kept us engaged with the history of Bulgaria and North Macedonia throughout the 3 hour ride and checked with us frequently if we were comfortable. He even waited in the lobby to receive me in the morning. Theodore is easily one of the most impressive guides I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in my travels abroad.
Skopje was surprisingly a cool city. Definitely worth a day visit. Driver and van were great. Drive is a little long.
