Charent's Arch
The first stop is near the Arch of Charents, which is named in honor of Armenian poet Eghishe Charents, who wrote the best poem, dedicated to Armenia, full of true love and pride. From this place opens a breathtaking view to Ararat, probably the most stunning view of the Biblical mountain.
Garni Temple
The next stop is Garni Temple (77 A.D.) –it is the only standing heathen temple in the whole post-Soviet area. The temple gracefully stands on a high plateau overlooking the Azat river gorge. The surrounding area itself is incredibly beautiful. The greek-roman bath house with the mosaic, made out of 30,000 pieces of natural stones, as well as the ruins of the royal palace, will take you to 3rd century A.D. Not far from the temple of Garni (about 10 minutes’ walk), there is a cozy local restaurant with an amazing view of the temple, where you can relax and take part in master-class of tasting of freshly baked lavash – traditional Armenian flatbread.

It was a very pleasant day, with reasonably enough time reserved for each stop, not an exceptionally long drive, experienced and professional driver Armen and guide Sam, and detailed explanations of each attraction. The minibus was quiet, the WiFi was high-speed throughout, and Lavash's production was carefully visited. The most unexpected was that the view restaurant, which paid for its own lunch, was simply fantastic, with a particularly good taste in the cuisine, all the more so because the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the snowy mountains were hostile to the wild. Highly recommend them!!!

Highly recommend this trip for anyone interested in learning more about Armenian culture and history! The trip started with a visit to the Khor Virap monastery. Sitting a few hundred meters away from the border with Turkey, you have a spectacular view of Mt. Ararat. You can also climb down into the cell where St. Gregory was held captive for 13 years(!) The next stop is the old 1st. century Temple complex in Garni. The main temple is in great shape, with quite a lot of the original stones still in the structure. You also get to see an old Roman bath, with a mosaic floor piece largely preserved. Before the last stop at the Geghard monastery complex, you get to enjoy a very nice meal and speed course in lavash-making at a restaurant a few hundred meters up the road. The monastery itself is very well preserved, and you get the opportunity to drink from a holy spring in one of the many chambers. Lastly, I would like to give props to our amazing tour guide Anastasia for providing great commentary and energy to the tour! Definitely coming back in the future.

It was a really nice experience. We met the tour guides at the statue in front of the cascade. It had snowed a lot the night before our tour so all the roads were icy. As a result our driver was a bit late but our guide, Anastasia was there. As we waited she gave us a small tour of the square in front of the cascade and then invited us up to their offices and gave us each a hot coffee and some Armenian cakes. The driver came and was really lovely and carefully drove us around the whole day. Even if there was snow and ice everywhere he was very careful and we felt very safe. The car was also very clean, spacious and comfortable. Anastasia explained everything and answered all our questions. We also really enjoyed the format of the tour. For every stop she came with us explained why the place is interesting and answered all our questions and then left us on our own to explore at our own pace. The lavash making experience was nice and the restaurant had a beautiful view over the mountains. The lunch was nice as well, and we got to eat the lavash we made with cheese and herbs from the mountains. Overall a really nice tour, the only thing we regret is not booking more tours with this same company. Very professional and attentive.

All the places included in the tour are very beautiful and interesting to visit! The staff is nice and welcoming, we’ve been provided water, some local sweets and they brought us in a tasty and cheap restaurant where you get the opportunity to make your own lavash, the typical Armenian bread. Also, a special mention to our guide Gaya, very kind and friendly, who kept telling us, in both English and Russian, many historical and cultural facts about Armenia and the places we visited.
