Deramakot is one of the forest reserved in Sabah Borneo. Known for its virgin forest plus with systematic Reduce Impact Logging practices. Deramakot forest also is one of the forest in the island of borneo of which the chances to see the elusive and most endangered cat in Borneo the Clouderd leopard is slightly better compare to any other places, although its not promises, in terms of distributions, past records and sightings, Deramakot forest is better.
Beside that, if we lucky enough there are so many other mammals we might be able to see, such as wild borneon sun bear, wild orang utan, wild pigmy elephant, wild flying squirrel, samba deer, mouse deer, other cats species, birds and many more. Finger cross, the mother nature might be on our side! :)

Pick up from your hotel in sandakan or sepilok area. Pick up time will be 10am. From sandakan go to telupid town roughly about 2H30M. Having lunch at Telupid town. From Telupid town go to deep deramakot forest roughly about 3H drive. Upon arrival, check in. At 4pm go for afternoon safari until 6pm. Dinner served at 7pm. 8pm go for night safari until 11pm. Overnight at Deramakot forest.

6:30am go for the morning safari till 8:30am. After that breakfast and free and leisure the whole day. Lunch will be served at 12:30pm. 4pm go for afternoon safari till 6pm. Dinner at 7pm. By 8pm go for night safari till 10pm. Overnight at Deramakot.

7:30am breakfast is served. Check out at 8:30am. If the journey going back to Sandakan, roughly it will take about 5H30M. End of tour. Here, guest can add up another morning safari if willing, you may pay direct to the driver.

5.00Highly recommend this safari! We spotted tonnes of mammals and birds, including a magical experience with a family of pygmy elephants. The staff and guides are lovely and knowledgeable, and the food in the canteen is amazing. Wifi can be purchased for a small amount on site. The rooms are basic as it's essentially a research station, but each chalet has beds and a private bathroom. Definitely worth stripped back accommodation for the experience of being out deep in the primary rainforest. We did lots of drives at dawn, daytime, and dusk, and our driver was also amazing at spotting wildlife. No monkeys hanging around the lodges like you get at Kinabatangan which was a relief! All in all an amazing, highly-recommended experience and well worth the money.
