We did this hike on El Polvorín with our family of five (two adults and three kids), and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Puerto Vallarta. We started the tour at the Botanical Gardens, which were absolutely beautiful. The setting alone is worth the visit—lush, peaceful, and full of incredible plant life. We visited the church and then hiked down to the river, which was a great way to kick things off. As we walked through the gardens, we even spotted a peacock and other wildlife, which the kids loved. Next, we stopped at Chico’s Paradise for a snack, and this was such a fun experience. Watching the cliff jumpers was amazing—they were doing some seriously impressive jumps, and it added a lot of excitement to the stop. From there, we continued on to El Polvorín, where the real adventure began. After a short hike, we got to spend time cliff jumping, and this was the absolute highlight for our kids. They had an incredible time and didn’t want to leave. We wrapped up the tour with a swim out to the waterfalls, which was the perfect ending to an already amazing day. If you’re looking for a fun, active, and memorable experience for the whole family, this is it. Highly recommend!

Very fun and memorable experience! The river felt great to swim in and there’s some spots to go cliff jumping if you’re into that. Our tour guide was very easy going and catered to what we wanted to do.

Rudy from Hiking Vallarta led me on the perfect afternoon long hiking trip to gorgeous rapids and waterfalls about a 20 minute drive from Puerta Vallarta. He’s a great leader, super chill and never doubted that this 50+ lady could take care of herself ✌️ These falls are great for swimming, sunning on rocks and a refreshing, moderate hike to get there. Highly recommend!

It was a lot of fun hiking the powder keg, even though I was going alone, I felt safe and in a friendly atmosphere. The route is short but with spectacular views, the bathroom in the waterfall is amazing, plus Emiliano is very friendly and solves everything. I definitely recommend this walk.
