From the moment you step into our Mate Bar, the atmosphere wraps around you: rustic wood, countryside details, soft folkloric music, and the warmth of an old-fashioned pulpería. You quickly realize that mate is not just a drink — it’s a living tradition and a way to connect. In this unique experience, you’ll learn how to cure the calabash —the traditional gourd used to drink mate— and how to prepare (cebar) a proper mate, just like Argentinians do: at the perfect temperature, with care and intention. During the round, you’ll taste five varieties of premium yerba mate —organic, pesticide-free, and aged for 24 months— served in the most traditional ways: amargo (bitter), dulce (sweet), cocido (steeped like tea), and tereré (cold and refreshing). Each style is paired with stories that connect the Guaraní origins of mate with gaucho traditions and everyday Argentine life. The experience also includes local flavors that complete the ritual: medialunas (Argentine croissants) from one of the best bakeries in BA, and a sweet ending where you’ll craft your own alfajores filled with creamy dulce de leche. We’ll be waiting for you with the water at the perfect temperature. Sip a mate!

5.00We had an absolutely wonderful time at this session. We learned so much about how the culture of mate is infused with the Argentinian way of life. I loved hearing about how everyone joins in sipping mate at social gatherings. Chris was so enthusiastic and really imparted so much culture and how to perfect the making of mate from various containers. I would highly recommend this tour.
