This rum distilling experience is a very hands on, bespoke, personal and very knowledgeable workshop like no other in the country. Upon entry to the building you will be warmly greeted by your host upstairs at the main entrance. You shall then be guided to our bespoke micro distillery and once settled you are given a welcome rum and mixer followed by a brief outline of the running of the experience and history of the distillery. Next comes a short history of rums from around the world and a rum tasting section to help you come up with a rum recipe to distill your bottle of rum. Guests then pick a total of 6-10 ingredients from our botanical library to help them create and distill their own rum bottle. While distillation takes place, guests enjoy a rum cocktail. When distillation finishes, guest bottle their rum, add a label with their chosen rum name and finally wax seal their bottle to take away with them.

You will be welcomed to a bespoke micro distillery room where you will receive a rum and mixer on arrival. Guests will be allowed to settle in with a run through of the outline of the class. Each guest will then try three different rum tasting samples and then design their own bespoke rum recipe from the available ingredients. Guests will then use an individual mini copper still to distill their chosen ingredients to produce a 500ml (50cl) bottle of rum to take home with them. While their rum is distilling they will enjoy a cocktail and once their rum has been distilled, they will taste their newly made rum before bottling, labelling, naming and wax sealing their end product to take away with them.

5.00Superb day with a fantastic host. Gary is extremely knowledgeable on all things Rum 👌 My wife and I both learnt a lot and it was an excellent birthday present from a friend. Good company with 3 guys from Mexico doing the Gin but made no difference to Gary who passed on to both groups his depth of knowledge. Great Irish sense of humour which I love and can’t recommend a visit here highly enough. Can’t wait to taste my world class Rum soon 👍😎

5.00Got this as a Christmas present, what a briliant way to spend an afternoon in Edinburgh. Gary was very knowledable and entertaining, the 4-rums and cocktail opened our eyes to the wide variety of rums out there. Creating your own recipe, selecting your own herbs, fruits and spices on the back of Gary's help, the bottle of rum to take home made the day. Thanks, had a fab day out, Linda & Ian

5.00We had a wonderful afternoon making our own rum, it was so interesting learning about the process and picking all the flavours (and theres a lot to choose from!). Gary was a great host and very knowledgeable, it felt like he was your friend telling you all about his hobby which he is clearly very passionate about... Would recommend this experience to any rum lover!

5.00Interactive and interesting experience. Gary, the experience guy, was extremely knowledgeable, personable and put everyone at ease, which is important when you are about to spend 3 hours with complete strangers. Gary was able to explain everything in minute detail and clearly displayed his excellent knowledge of rums, gins and the various ingredients that made the drinks up. Trying the different rums was fun, although the crowning piece was being able to choose all your ingredients to be distilled into your very own, unique rum. Highly recommend this experience.

5.00Brilliant way to spend an afternoon. Great fun and informative experience. Not only did we learn about distillation but flavour profiles including fruits, herbs and spices. Gary was great at answering any questions and you felt at ease asking even the most basic ones! You were also treated to a couple of cocktails while learning the whole process through Gary's funny Irish charm. Hosted in the basement of a lovely old fashioned pub in the middle of Edinburgh. Would recommend this to anyone interested in making your own flavoured recipe - my friend and I made a Christmas rum and the other couple of guys made a Christmas gin. It would be a great present for a friend or family member or like I did, do it together with them.

5.00I was given this voucher as a birthday gift. Distilling was done in a cosy wee room. Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. It was great being able to smell the different herbs and spices and pick the ones that you liked to go into your rum. Once distilled it is measured for proof then bottled with a wax seal. An amazing experience with a great host. Well worth giving it a try

5.00We had the most wonderful time, genuine, friendly, informative, fun, there are not enough words to describe. At the end you will bring home your iwn bottle of Rum, the only one there is. 😊🥃 Well worth a visit, book long in advance. The class is only maximum of 6 persons. Highly recommended
