You’ll have to wake up early for this tour... but it’s worth it.
I’ll take you on a 3-hour walk I designed to capture the real Saigon, the one that’s alive and breathing only in the early morning.
We’ll kick things off with my favorite local breakfast: a hearty bowl of noodles and dumplings, or slow-cooked beef stew... all from a home made by a lovely grandma.
Next, we'll dive into the colorful chaos of the wet market (spoiler: it's not that wet), sampling juicy, exotic fruits at their freshest.
Then it’s off to an 86-year-old coffee house, where the aunties will show you the old-school way of brewing coffee and tea. We’ll sip bold Vietnamese brews that'll charge you up for the day ahead.
But that’s just the beginning.
Ask me anything, or just walk in peace and snap some photos.. introverts are more than welcome.
So, I’ll share stories, secrets, and hidden corners you won't find on Google, and make sure you leave a little more relaxed.
What could go wrong? :)

The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument
Heavy spot. Small, quiet, easy to miss — but once you know the story, it hits deep.
Grandma noodles and dumplings: We stepping into her living room that just happens to be a tiny restaurant. We sit down, she brings out these handmade dumplings and that slow-cooked beef stew... soft, rich, smells like home. Everything feels personal, like she’s cooking just for us. Simple, cozy, nothing fancy, but you walk out full and kind of happy inside.
Everything is included. You only need to book a taxi back home.

Just like in every other section, she greeted the vendors, understood their jockes, and gave us tips for sitting on the tiny, plastic stools without losing face. With Spring in the lead, we walked through the hustle and bustle of the market, and walked past a tofu vendor singing to the radio. We entered a quiet courtyard of a temple where Spring enlighted us with her knowledge on the local culture, in a simple and beautiful way. It was akin to the experience of having a close friend, who, for some reason, knows every nook and cranny of the city.

Everything was done at an easy pace. When she saw me slowing down to take photos, she stopped and said, Let’s take our time, this alley has a beautiful morning light. No other guides have said that to me. She chose food that was appropriate for each individual, kept track of who enjoyed spicy food and who didn’t, and ensured that we knew what we were eating, rather than simply tasting it. Everything about this experience felt tailor made for us.

Hieu talked about intimate details you wouldn’t find on the Internet: the history of the areas he has lived, the evolution of the neighborhoods, the local concerns, and the the local celebrations. It was genuine. At the end of our time with Hiew, we had a newfound connection with the city, and we were not just full.

She will lead you through uncharted corners of the city and narrow roads where the aroma of steaming bowls of noodles is intertwined with the scent of ancient buildings, and guide you to fruit and vegetable markets where you will master the skill of fruits picking as a genuine Saigonese. Spring spoke about her grandma and the food she made and her special ability to discern the different flavors of herbs, and it were one of those rare cultural insight experiences where it did not feel like you were learning!

Spring is unlike most other people. The thing she loves the most is the little things in life that people (including myself) tend to overlook. I remember us sitting on these tiny stools and soaking in the whole atmosphere having the time of our life appreciating everything. Spring and I reminisced our time there and the things that we loved the most was just being on these tiny stools and absorbing the whole atmosphere and life.

She guides you gently, like she’s taking you on a tour of her favorite spots from childhood. She knew each stall owner, each shortcut, each food detail. At one stop, the vendor jokingly complained that she keeps ‘bringing hungry couples’ and the whole place laughed. We felt we were part of a local experience and Spring made the whole place feel like home.

Hieu doesn’t rush anything. He introduces you to people he actually knows ... vendors, neighbors, aunties, even a barber who waved at him from across the street. You feel like the city is opening up to you because you’re with someone it trusts. It was special in a way that’s hard to describe but easy to remember

She noticed when I slowed down to look at something and turned it into a story. She knew when to chat and when to just let the moment breathe. My favorite part was when she taught me how to eat a fruit I’d never seen before without making a mess… and I still made a mess. She laughed with me, not at me 🙂 I left with new flavors and also a strange sense of being understood. Thanks Spring!!

Hieuu didn’t just guide us around Saigon , he shared the pieces of his city that he genuinely loves. The tiny breakfast counter where the chef knows him by name, the old auntie selling herbs who teased us for eating too slow, the quiet temple corner where he told us how locals pray for good luck. It felt like being let into someone’s real life, not a scripted tour. I left full, happy, and a little emotional. Thank you Hiu

What a special morning with Spring. She was welcoming, generous with her knowledge and love of her beautiful country. Our family loved grandma's noodles and watching the owner making Vietnamese coffee at the 2nd oldest coffee house in the city was a memory we won't forget.
