Giraffe Centre
The tour starts by picking you from your Hotel/Home within Nairobi. You will be driven to Giraffe centre where you feed Rothschild giraffes under the supervision of keepers. The center has rescued, hand-reared and released around 500 orphaned giraffes back into the wild since opening in 1979. This attraction offers opportunities to feed the endangered Rothschild's giraffe by hand. The location also offers a fine education on the physiology, behaviors and habitat preferences of these beautiful animals.
Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
You will then be driven to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to walk through the center from 11am - 12pm in an open space, with a rope fence around it. The youngest elephants come trotting out of the bush to greet their keepers who stand at the ready with giant bottles of milk. For the next 10-15 minutes you can watch each little one slurp and gargle their milk. Then, you'll have time to watch the elephants play. You find out how old they were when they arrived at the orphanage, where they were rescued from, and what got them into trouble. The most common reasons for getting orphaned being: mother's poached, falling into wells, and human/wildlife conflict. Once the youngest are all fed, they are led back into the bush, and it's the turn of the 2-3 year olds. Some of them can feed themselves, and some are still fed by their keepers. Watch them interact with their keepers, munch on some branches of their favorite acacias, and play with the half drums of water and mud

Have Steven escort the experience made a huge difference to our experience. He knew where to stand, the best photo opportunity, and the most enjoyable way to interact with the elephants and giraffes. This tour is a must for anyone staying in Nairobi.

Our guide was sooo good and I’m so incredibly mad at myself for not writing down his name. From getting us to the best spot at the elephant sanctuary and escaping traffic he truly was the best!! This is an incredible tour and definitely recommend using this company to book your elephant and giraffe excursion

I went with 80 year old mom. Not suitable for people with mobility issues. Have to pay national park fee for a one hour exhibit. Not worth it if you will see elephants on a safari.

My tour guide was 5 stars, but the tour itself... eh. The giraffe center was fine and the elephant sanctuary was fine, neither were worth the price of the tour, especially because you have to pay $40+ additional just to enter the national park to go to the elephant sanctuary. I would not participate in this tour again.
