Baobabs and former military fort near Diégo

Small boat trip (1/2 day) in front of the port of Diégo where we went to see an old military fort and pretty baobabs by the sea. We took the boat to diego and went up an inlet in front of the port. I think about 30 minutes drive to an old military fort, nice visit of this in right abandoned but gaschy guarded military site where is a small village. We dropped off our cook and left for about 20 minutes along the coast where we admired many baobabs. We docked and walked 4 min to reach the baobab grandfather, respect to him he is beautiful. Back to the fort where we picnic grilled fish from our cook. (table c was an old rusty metal door and holes. Covered with a pareo it seemed brand new) Friendly little walk for a very small destressing and non-physical outing. Well the village site before the fort is like that would say not very clean. The plastic-infested seaside. But there were fishermen working. The site of the fort reveals a huge cavity that served as a canteen bar, quite impressive. Going up to the right the old prison with the cells and on the other side a nice little bay with beach. Apparently it's not very well known as a site. Here you go. Ah c is the excursion agency in the premises glued to the Grand Hotel that organized us this.

To be honest there’s not much to see on this tour, though the scenery is beautiful. Driver was sweet, charming but communication was limited due to language barrier. Tuk tuk a cute local way to get around.

I had actually booked the Tsingy Rough and Amber Mountain tour, which was canceled because the road there was reportedly impassable. Instead, I was given a shorter tour that only included Tsingy Rouge. Other passengers I was traveling with told me that they had been to Amber Mountain, which annoyed me a little, especially since I didn't get a discount for the shorter tour. In addition, I was informed of this change very late, even though I had booked the tour very early, with all the details I had requested. The tour to Tsingy Rouge with Richard was very informative and the landscape was beautiful. He also answered many of my questions and gave me an insight into the lives of the people there. The pick-up and return transport to the ship also went smoothly. For lunch, we had a fruit plate with pineapple, banana, and lychee.

Great visits. Very well organised by Carina. She is really keen on giving you the best experience. Every tour has Its own guide (all of them, very well) but the agency also came with me as I was alone. Very recommended! You feel like at home…
