We provide visitors the opportunity to immerse yourself in the phenomenon of Gaelic Games, the national sports on our island. UNESCO recognised, our unique approach to the Gaelic Games Experience introduces you to Ireland’s ancient past creating walk away memories to last a lifetime. Our experience allows participation in Ireland’s greatest cultural secret and most popular pastimes – Gaelic Football, Hurling (Stick and Ball game) and Gaelic Handball. It is suitable for all ages and abilities, prepare to be surprised!
It's full of fun and laughter and delivered in the heart of the community in a real Gaelic Club. It's an mix of culture, history, sport and soft activity. All you need are flat shoes and a willingness to have fun! Think Soccer, Rugby, Basketball, Volleyball, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse and Baseball all combined into the one. Then add on over 3000 years of history. It is an opportunity to do something truly unique, allowing you to become Gaelic Warriors for the first time!

Experience a Gaelic Games session at a local GAA Club called "Liam Mellows", located a short bus/taxi journey from Galway City Centre. Our modern facility includes a dedicated visitor centre. The 402 Bus stops only 500 metres from the club. Sessions start with an introduction to what are known locally as "Gaelic Games". This includes history of the games, their revered place to life in Ireland and how the games are structured/played. You’ll see video clips, Irish passion for GAA and will generally just have the craic. Following the engaging introduction, it is out to the astro pitch, where you'll partake in gentle team building activities of Gaelic Football and Hurling. You’ll need flat footwear and a willingness to have fun. Casual clothing is preferable. Bring sporting attire if you'll get competitive. There is water, tea/coffee available. If you wish to use our on-site dressing rooms/showers, please bring your own towels/toiletries. Interaction makes the event: our trainers are great; they are passionate about their beloved games and really interact with visitors. Depending on the group you most likely play mini-matches - all in good fun!

5.00This was the best time. My kids, my husband and I had a great time learning the sports. Joey was a great teacher and very patient. My kids said this was their favorite thing the whole trip!

5.00Stephen was a wonderful trainer, explaining the intricacies of G.A.A. while helping us have fun. We traveled with three young athletes and they had a blast learning Gaelic football and camogie! We were all laughing and playing together.

5.00Wonderful experience! Stephen is a great teacher. It was so much fun learning how to play the Gaelic games. This is our top activity in Ireland. If you're thinking about it then definitely do it.

5.00We booked a slot at Experience Gaelic Games in Aug 2025 as a family of 5, including 3 grown children. Our instructor was Steven, he was awesome! I can’t say enough great things about him. He’s very thorough, experienced, patient and talented. We enjoyed our visit! He accommodated all of our different skill levels. We were in a small group of only 2 families so there was plenty of space and time. We learned a lot about Gaelic Football and Hurling. We didn’t actually play a game, but we learned skills and played drills that were fun. Steven was awesome! Great value for a fun group excursion!

5.00This was such a great experience for our family. Our 10 and 11-year old boys really enjoyed learning about and playing Gaelic football and hurling. Our instructor was delightful. One of the real highlights of our trip!

5.00Awesome experience. Organised for a stag party of 16 guys and surpassed everyone's expectations. Steven was a brilliant instructor - so knowledgeable about the sport and the history and a great coach for all levels. Made it a really fun experience for everyone. Would highly recommend

5.00We loved our session with Stiofán/Stephen - he obviously sussed that we were sports-mad and competitive, so worked us hard, which was great! Apart from having great fun, we came away with a better understanding of Gaelic Games, and how important they are to Irish culture and identity - so much better than simply reading about it. We are now hooked - came home to England in time to watch the amazing Clare v Cork All-Ireland Hurling Final, and can't wait until next week's Football Final between Galway and Amagh!
