This stunning turquoise lake was formed as a result of a natural disaster in January 2010 when a massive landslide occurred in the region, blocking the flow of the Hunza River. The lake stretches approximately 13 miles (21 kilometers) in length and reaches a maximum depth of around 358 feet (109 meters), making it one of the largest and deepest lakes in the region. Despite its tragic origins, Attabad Lake has become a major tourist attraction due to its surreal beauty and the captivating backdrop of the surrounding mountains. Travelers are drawn to its vivid azure waters contrasting with the rocky landscape and snow-capped peaks, creating a mesmerizing sight that is a photographer's dream. Visitors can take boat rides across the lake, offering a unique perspective of the submerged landscape and the colorful boats that dot its surface.
Passu Cones
6000 meters high rock spires, aligned in a perfect continuity, are prolly the most photographed peaks in Gilgit Baltistan. Passu cones also knows as Passu Cathedrals, a sensation among rock climbers across the globe. The Passu Cones are characterized by their unique pyramid-like shape and sharp, jagged summits, which make them stand out among the other peaks in the area. The sight of these majestic structures against the backdrop of snow-covered mountains and glacial valleys creates a surreal and awe-inspiring panorama.

We arranged our honeymoon trip through Traverse Pakistan. We were a little worried travelling after the recent floods and landslides, but are so glad we didn’t cancel! Traverse were really reassuring throughout. The weather ended up being amazing the entire time and we were lucky in that everything was less busy than it would have been otherwise (it was a little sad to see but I take heart in that we supported the local economy by travelling). We started off by flying from Islamabad to Skardu, spent 3 nights in Skardu, then 4 nights in Hunza, and 2 nights in Fairy Meadows. Traverse was very professional throughout: - Kashif our main contact was readily available through whatsapp and helped rearrange things at short notice (for instance we ended up having to move hotels in Hunza or travel back to Islamabad a day early) - The drivers and guides (Gulzar in Skardu and Hunza, Ahmed in Fairy Meadows, and our great driver from Fairy Meadows to Islamabad whose name I don’t know) were all super lovely and very professional, and we always felt safe even on sketchy mountain roads! - We were booked into quality hotels and given great service overall, car quality was great too (Prado style SUV for most of the trips + Corolla back to Islamabad) A few tips if like us you’re travelling from abroad (we came from the UK): - Beware of the altitude if you do any hikes! Maybe take the first day a bit easier than we did :) - It’s pretty hard to find ATMs accepting international cards (Visa/Mastercard), especially in Skardu (Hunza is a little easier but still had to try several banks), so make sure to take out enough cash ahead of time or check which do accept what (we had some luck with Alfalah Bank in Hunza iirc) - Same story with SIM cards, I had an eSIM using Jazz which was surprisingly fine for the most part in towns, but in more remote locations only SCOM worked (e.g. Fairy Meadows where there is also no wifi at the hotels!) - Personal opinion but if I were to do it again, the only thing I would change would be to skip Attabad lake and spend more time in Hunza at the Rihla All in all warmly recommended! Would definitely use Traverse again to book our next trip.

To call it a leap of faith and a combination of luck? It’s be the only way to describe my first ever experience with team Traverse Pakistan! There will not be a thing I’d like to change in the trip. The itinerary was carefully crafted, the meals were tasty and the stays were top notch! I went solo on a friends recommendation but came back with a family I’ll cherish forever. From the start till we reached back home, Kashif and Hanan were just a text away. Hanan gathered everyone at the morning table ‘ajaen sab’ and it was the most fun part. I’d always ask people to go to Hunza in autumn because it’s just magical and only with traverse! The bestest part? You get free photography!! Adding some picture to give you an idea of all that I write from my heart. Happy travelling! (Have booked another trip with them :D)

We had this wonderful trip in early May 2025 during the tension situation. In addition, we have concerned about our domestic flight due to our limited time of our trip. However, Traverse Pakistan is the good and reliable company that supports all things that we have concerned and might face them. We were on the good hand. I have rated this company as the five stars.

This was such a great trip! The flight into Skardu was stunning and set the tone for the whole experience. Everything was really well planned—the resorts were clean, scenic, and super comfortable. The team stayed in touch throughout, checking in regularly to make sure things were going smoothly, which was really reassuring. Our driver was friendly and easy to travel with, which made the long drives feel more relaxed. All in all, a smooth, stress-free way to explore the north. Would definitely recommend!

Exceptionally good trip organised by Traverse for me and mom to Hunza. Everything was very well organised and on spot. The resorts suggested by them were amazing especially 2 Magpies was to die for. The yellow trees of autumn with wooden cabins and clear blue sky looked so surreal. Our next stop was in Luxus, near Attabaad lake which was surrounded by breathtaking majestic mountain and clouds.Definitely planning to take another trip really soon because this one went so well.
