Al Khor
Also spelled Al Khawr means "sea on threesides" in Arabic. Older than Doha but far smaller in size. Al Khor is located an easy 50 kilometres to the north of Doha. It used to be the center of the pearling industry in Qatar but lost its importance after the introduction of cultured pearls. It now boasts a scenic harbour where you can find traditional fishing dhows, a corniche leading to mangrove colonies and a museum showcasing the fishing, pearling and dhow building industries.
Al Thakhira Beach
The mangroves colony is not only a major tourism product for Qatar but an important natural environmental resource for Qatar. It provides a natural habitat and a sanctuary for birds, fish and other animals as well as prevent coastal erosion.

5.00Had a great experience on this tour. We had a comfortable vehicle and a knowledgeable guide Adnan. He shared plenty of information and kept us engaged throughout. All the places we visited were amazing. The overall experience was super good

5.00I did the morning North Tour and liked it so much that took the West tour the afternoon of the next day. Both times the guide was Saloo (Salman), and it was perfect. We saw all the sites as advertised (and even a bonus stop to see camels up close), the ambiance was the most friendly, Saloo has a great sense of humor and knows where to take the best photos. At the end of the day you leave the tour in a very positive mood and having seen important, and hard-to-get-to (there was some offroad driving) parts of Qatar.

5.00Great interesting tour, was nice to see a different side of Qatar, away from the metropolitan buildings we are used to. Our guide Adnan was really friendly and knowledgeable. Even though it was Ramadan, he constantly checked if we needed water, and was really nice to be given ice cream to cool down from the heat. He was also very proactive in helping us take pictures. Would definitely recommend this tour!

5.00Our guide was very kind and shared a lot of information about Qatar and how life works here. And even though it was Ramadan, he provided us with water bottles. He also took us to an extra stop to see the Camel Racing Track and took amazing pictures of us. There were very few people at the locations and we were alone most of the time, so it was great for taking pictures. Overall, we had a lot of time to see and take pictures at all the locations.

5.00Excellent first experience in Doha. Our guide Adnan was paying a lot of attention to our request and the questions we may have. He was very clear on his explanations and we enjoyed learning for instance the signification of the purple for the purple island and the mangrove. On top, he did very nice pictures of my husband and I. We highly recommend Adnan and thank him since he did the tour with us during Ramadan period despite high temperatures and hard weather conditions (very sunny). We will plan another tour with Adnan when we are back to Qatar. The French from Saudi Arabia

5.00We had a great day with Adnan. He went out of his way to explain, was punctual and communicated well about pick up, drove us carefully, took care of us and we had a memorable day with the highlight to see so many camels on their evening walk which we never expected.
