Join our local-guided volcano tour to Fagradalsfjall—led by those who witnessed the eruptions first-hand.
This is more than a hike. It’s a deep, real experience into Iceland’s volcanic heart, guided by locals who live near the eruption zone and were among the first to explore it safely after the 2021 event.
Walk across dramatic lava fields, view steaming craters, and gain rare insights into the geology and eruptions that shaped the Reykjanes Peninsula. We don’t just take you to the volcano—we also visit the evacuated town of Grindavík, the colorful geothermal area of Seltún, and the mysterious lake Kleifarvatn.

Sigrún was great and extremely knowledgeable. She gave us dozens of awesome facts about the history of the town and the volcano. I do wish we were able to see some actual lava like in the picture description however. Overall, this tour was amazing, great hike up a mountain and so much Info from our guide!

Really cool experience, definitely a challenging hike but very rewarding. It was covered in fresh snow and looked absolutely out of this world. Highly recommend, although be prepared to earn the views and be very tired afterwards.

It was great - Haffi was great and explained a lot. We hiked up to a lava field & enjoyed the view very much. We were on a day with a lot of snow and therefore somewhat more difficult conditions, which is why the tour from the track was a little shorter than planned. We didn't mind (on the contrary - speaks for the provider) - high recommendation!:-)

We did this tour with our 3 kids (9-15 years old). It was a great thing! We walked across a lava field up to the crater. Our guide knew the volcano extremely well and told us a lot about it. It was very exciting. Unfortunately, there is currently no magma to see.

Haiffi was an awesome tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, engaging, and charismatic. The hike was not difficult and it was very cool at the top to look out as well as feel the heat from the active volcano. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Iceland.

Beautiful experience. Top guide, provided us with explanations also in Italian despite the tour was in English. Halfway through the hike pleasant surprise with hot dog snack (even vegetarian).
