Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
You do need to be able to walk for at least 40 minutes at a time over gentle terrain and pathways. We do not climb or crawl anywhere in our caves. There are no stairs in our caves. For those with mobility concerns, you will need to step up 40cm into and out of a transit van and down 40cm into and out of our raft. We do not take wheelchairs or walking frames. If you are concerned or unsure if your fitness is adequate, please contact us.

5.00the glow worms are an amazing almost unreal sight. our cave guide was very informed and personable. The tour involves a long drive from Auckland but it gives the opportunity to see the countryside.

5.00See these unusual caves when visiting New Zealand, everyone should!This is a unique sight!!! The tour was conducted by a young guide who immediately impressed with his knowledge, humor and delicacy!!!In addition: these were the few caves where you can take photos and videos: our guide even gave advice on how to improve the quality of shooting❤️...well, at the end of the tour, we were treated right in the forest to coffee tea with cookies🤗🥰 Happy to have achieved their dream, we were comfortably transported to the Port of Auckland on our ship! BRAVISSIMO guide in the caves ,driver Ali and the whole team of Expedigo!❤️🥰

5.00Just know that is about a 2 1/2 hr drive from Auckland so it does make for a long day. Having said that this trip was awesome. John was very knowledgeable and had special sites for us to enjoy and photograph. The caves were a beautiful site. Our guide Finn? was very good and gave us plenty of time in the caves. It was a small group with only 11 people and we travelled in a Mercedes van in comfort.. we had comfort breaks on the trip and stopped for lunch after the cave tours. I would highly recommend

Consider the less-crowded Spellbound Cave instead of Waitomo for your glowworm experience!

5.00Having arrived in Auckland via cruise ship, we are soooo glad that we booked this particular trip with Viator rather than the "official" cruise line excursions desk. It was less expensive, more intimate, and we later learned that the Spellbound cave has more glowworms than the larger Waitomo cave and photos were permitted. We also went to a second cave where we got to see some remains of a 12,000-year old MOA bird! The Expedigo Team, that ran the tour, was great! From the driver to the cave tour guide, they provided excellent commentary all day long. We learned so much! And they delivered us back to our ship with time to spare. Highly recommend this tour!
Spellbound Glowworms Cave is the cave to go to!

5.00Deane was the driver and did a professional job. Only wish he shared a bit more about Auckland or NZ as he drove us. Man who led us at the Spellbound Glowworms tour did a good job explaining what we were looking at. Very unique experience watching the glowworms. Learned there are several hundred glowworms caves. I think we got a very good one to see. Try to go to the Spellbound one. I don't think all glowworm caves are the same.

5.00Amazing experience We went to the caves from Auckland with a small group. David was our tour guide who told us stories and made our knowledge about New Zealand a little better. Later in the caves we had other guides and all of them were just excellent both with the explanations and with helping the group to see as much as possible. The glow worms are fantastic and being in a little boat staying in the cave longer gave us a much better opportunity to see them better. It looked like the sky with the thousands of stars above you. What a unique experience! Then in the so-called dry cave we could admire the stalagmites and stalagtites and still see glow worms on the ceilings. I’d go again any time! Thanks for the lovely tour!
