Hoa Lu Ancient Capital
Hoa Lu is the first capital of Vietnam, preserving significant historical imprints from the nation’s early days. When visiting the ancient capital, you can explore its timeless beauty and understand why the capital was eventually moved from here to Hanoi. The atmosphere transports visitors back in time, allowing them to immerse themselves in the solemn and sacred ambiance of a golden era.
Hoa Lu temples of the Dinh & Le Dynasties
The Temple of King Dinh and King Le honor the founding kings of the Dinh and Early Le dynasties and stand out for their ancient architecture, rich in Vietnamese cultural identity. The Temple of King Dinh is dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang, the founder of Vietnam's first royal dynasty, while the Temple of King Le honors King Le Dai Hanh, the founder of the succeeding Early Le Dynasty. The temples are built in the traditional "Dinh" layout, with the main hall dedicated to the king and side halls for the queen and loyal officials, featuring intricate carvings of dragons, phoenixes, and symbolic motifs showcasing the artisans’ craftsmanship. In terms of spiritual significance, Vietnamese people view the worship of these kings as a gesture of gratitude and respect for those who established and defended the nation. Each year, important festivals and rituals are held at these temples to honor the kings’ legacy and to pray for peace, bountiful harvests, and prosperity for the people.
