Rila Mountains

Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Sofia and a scenic drive into the breathtaking landscapes of the Rila National Park. Within about 2 hours, you’ll reach the starting point in the famous Malyovitsa mountaineering area. The trail gradually climbs through ancient spruce forests, crystal-clear streams, and glacial valleys. As you ascend toward Maliovitsa Hut (1,960 m), your guide will share stories about the history of Bulgarian alpinism and the natural wonders of the region. After a short refreshing break at the hut, the hike continues higher into the alpine zone, where dramatic granite walls and sweeping mountain views surround the path leading toward Malyovitsa Peak. Your end point will be the first “terrace”, which is reached after 30 more minutes’ walk after the hut, and from there you will be able to see breathtaking panoramic views! After you take some memorable photos, you will return via the same path.

After the walk, you will continue to a traditional Bulgarian restaurant, situated in the Govedartsi village, where you will have the opportunity to try local home-made products and to enjoy a delicious lunch. Finally, you will take a relaxing return ride to Sofia and you will be back there at around 18:30.
