Our full day trip from Vienna shows you the must-see places in Austria in a comfortable and flexible manner.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to Austrian Alps, where you will find out the facts of the highlight of the Wachau Valley, the magnificent Benedictine Abbey of Melk.
As you continue your journey, you will experience the natural splendour of the Salzkammergut Lake District, a paradise of serene waters and stunning alpine scenery.
The next highlight of the trip is the unique village of Hallstatt, located right on the shores of an Alpine lake with an amazing view of the huge mountains rising steeply from a narrow valley.
The next highlight is the City of the Sound of Music - Salzburg, where you will have free time to stroll through the Old Town, Mirabel garden, Mozart's Birthplace and enjoy the world capital of classical music.
If you find yourself enchanted by this magnificent city, you can stay there longer and return to Vienna at your own expenses by train.

Please note that you will cover approx. 660 km. by motorway on this day. It is approx. 8,5 hours drive with multiple stops. You will spend minimum 1 hour in Hallstatt and max. 2 hours in Salzburg. In case of traffic jams, the time can be shortened.
This tour is created for inquisitive travellers who want to visit the most important cities in a short time. If you want to get to know these cities in more details, we strongly advise you to go to each of these cities separately.
To save your free time in the cities, we also recommend you to bring light snacks and water. You can eat on the bus as long as you don't disturb other tourists.
Tour is not recommended for infants and very slow-moving disabled persons.

3.00I am glad I got to see different places in Austria. That being said, there wasnt a lot of time to explore. I would rather have had 1 city/village or the other. There wasnt time to eat. It was beautiful though.

5.00We had a great time on the Melk, Salzburg, and Hallstatt day trip. It was a long day with a big group, but the bus was very comfortable and the driver drove smoothly and safely. Our guide, Olga, was knowledgeable and full of interesting stories. A memorable and well-organized tour!

5.00This was a fabulous day trip with a very good guide in Alex. A very early start and a long day but enjoyable just the same. The Melk Cathedral was spectacular, Hallstat was picturesque and Salzburg was interesting and beautiful. The city tour in Salzburg was informative and well done. I would recommend this tour.

5.00The tour was even better than we expected! Oga, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and kept us thoroughly entertained with her stories and fun quizzes along the way. It was truly a pleasure! The stops on the tour are all must-see highlights and absolutely worth spending the entire day to experience.

1.00This was our 27th Viator excursion, and our first major disappointment. Though the tour guide was very sweet, 9 of the 13 hours are spent in a bus on the highway, with no scenic relief. In Melk, though it says it's included, you need to pay 18 euro to go into the Abbey. The "free" part is walking along the outside. Hallstadt was beautiful, but when we got to Saltzberg, we were put into a tour with a woman who walked extremely fast, kept telling us to catch up, and then lost half of us when she decided to walk through an extremely congested Christmas market. We were a big group, so about 20+ of us were left to discover the town on our own. On the bus ride back to Vienna, it was advertised that we would be stopping for 20 minutes at a "rustic restaurant" for coffee and stretch out legs. We ended up stopping at a truck stop for 10 minutes to use the bathrooms. No restaurant, no coffee, nothing but bathrooms. Search out another way to see Austria. This definitely isn't it!

3.00The stop at the Monastery was 20 mins, not enough time to do anything really, Hallstatt was beautiful, and I would’ve rather just stayed here, the guide really just read off of some papers, was not super informative. Salzburg was so over populated that we lost our guide because the Salzburg tour was really just pushing through the mass of people and trying to find your guide for an hour. It was not enjoyable at all. No drinks or bathrooms on the bus.

5.00The trip was excellent! Dasha (the guide) and Ghenadie (the diver) were fantastic. Ghena made us feel safe in the bus, and Dasha....ooo Daaha was fantastic. She told us stories on the bus, stories that made the trip more pleasant and educational, but not so that we grown bored. The road to all the destinations was smooth and careless. In the end, we were glad we took the experience. Thanks Dasha amd Ghena!
