If you are looking for a true insider's perspective of Dakar, then, you have found it. I have a great admiration for this country. So, I will introduce you to the most spectacular places of interest and all the highlights from an insider's view point. I will provide you with a view and experience of Dakar that only locals would know. I will show you things that would take weeks to research and months to experience. There is so much to see, so many interesting stories of the different ethnic groups. So, it is my absolute pleasure to show off these places and tell stories related to them which makes History come alive.

Island of Goree
GOREE island was the most important Slave depot in West Africa between the 15th and the 18th century. Slaves were brought in against their will under horrible conditions and suffering unspeakable.abuse. A visit to the door-of-no- return will give you an idea of millions of African Slaves being sorted out and led into the Slave ships yelling for mercy.

Interesting, but all listed stops not included

4.00While it was generally a good tour, the itinerary was not followed and lunch was not provided, even though it was listed as “included”. Likewise, there was no stop at the large market in central Dakar (supposedly a 30 minute stop). I contacted the manager and he said he would check into the matter, but two days have passed without any further response. The visit to Goree Island was interesting, as was the overall view of Dakar.

5.00Oumar did a fantastic job as our tour guide! He was waiting at the exit of our cruise ship as promised and started with a great tour of Dakar that visited all the key highlights of this great African city. He then took us on a tour of Goree Island. While this is a difficult place to visit due to its history, Oumar provided tremendous background and cultural history that really made it memorable for us. He has a great passion for the topic with a focus on helping visitors understand it. I loved his insights on how Senegal benefits from focusing on religious solidarity, well beyond religious tolerance. He was highly fluent in English, and we ended the day with a lovely lunch. I highly recommend both him and his tour company!!

5.00After cruise picked up on time at port terminal.With friendly and knowledgeable guide Bobacar Ndiaye visited island Gorée. Afterwards Dakar city with musée Black Africa and most sights visited. Dropped off at airport afterwards.

5.00The guide was very knowledgeable, calm and at the same time humorous. Nice walk on Ile De Gorée followed by sightseeing in Dakar city. The breakfast was also delicious and authentic!

5.00Can be as long, simple or brief as you wish. Guides are well informed and will cater to your wishes. Tour is not "canned."

5.00Oumar Kebe picked me up at my hotel. Went straight to the port for the ferry to Goree Island. Amazing and heart wrenching sights. We made it to the Slave House before the tour groups which was great. Back to the mainland we then did a city tour. I mentioned a couple items of interest not in the scheduled itinerary and Oumar made sure I saw those as well. The best part of this tour is your guide Oumar Kebe. His historical knowledge of Senegal is excellent and second to none. He was very friendly, accommodating and spoke excellent English. He’s also a minor celebrity as a former goalkeeper. Everyone knows him and greets him. He’s like an ambassador without a diplomatic passport! A truly unforgettable experience with Oumar! Book this tour!!

5.00I had a 12-hour stopover in Dakar and this was a great way to spend part of the day. This was a very nice overview of the city and region of Dakar, including a trip to Goree Island, seaside lunch, and to the African Renaissance Monument. The tour operator and guide were very flexible and even tailored some of the trip to my travel needs. The vehicle was safe and seemed properly guarded while we were exploring parts of the city. The guide was knowledgeable (and had been doing it for a very long time), and able to answer questions as they arose.

2.00Mediocre guide. Did not want to spent too much energy/time. Convenient though that tickets were bought and quick passage at the ferry terminal.
