Get ready for an exciting adventure in the Andes: Cajon del Maipo, with this beautiful walk of approximately 5 hours designed for small groups.
We will start with a 1 hour 30 minute scenic drive to the Colorado River Valley. There, we will pause to enjoy a delicious breakfast overlooking the mountains.
Then, together with a local guide, we will start the trekking through paths that will allow us to know the fascinating vegetation of the area, such as peumos, thorns, cacti and maytans, many of them typical of the sclerophyllous or evergreen forest.
Along the way, we will also learn about the rich fauna of the place, with the possibility of seeing blackberry eagles and condors, as well as looking for traces such as fox tracks or cougars.
When you reach the top of the trail, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Andes.
Finally, after descending and having lived an unforgettable day in the Andes, we will start the return to Santiago.

A very special day in the mountains. Early morning city hotel pick up by Javiera our excellent host and guide. Great breakfast by her husband Carlos at their mountainside Glamping site before trekking. Our guide Francine was experienced, knowledgeable and great company. Spectacular trek … rock formations, giant cacti, wild goats and horses, signs of a puma (poo) varied hardy plants and stunning views. Plied with nisperos (loquarts) by Francine on the climb. Delicious sandwiches and packed lunch prepared by Javiera. Summit views stunning. Condors wonderful to see at close range. Learned to use trekking poles. Five star experience. Gracias Javiera, Francine & Carlos

Despite all my difficulties during the journey, we took great advantage of trekking. It was a unique experience! The attention of Javiera and Carlos was what most impacted us. The breakfast, prepared by them very carefully is a delight. Regarding the trekking itself, it is a fairly grim rise and on a sunny day (as was our case) it is quite exhausting, as there are not many shaded places along the way. It takes a little preparation, it's not an easy climb. As we did a private tour, it made it easy for us to make the walk in our time and stopping as many times as I needed. But the place is beautiful and worth the effort in the end. Since this tour has no lunch included and there is no place to have lunch at the top of the mirror, we recommend taking a picnic or sandwiches, plus plenty of water if the day is hot. It was a difficult ride for me (for my husband not so much, because he was more physically prepared than me), but with a wonderful reward.
