Chateau De Labourdonnais

Your tour starts with a visit to the enchanting castle of Chateaux De Labourdonnais nestled in the north of the island. This beautifully looked-after home was built in 1856 and hosted over three generations until 2006, when the agricultural company of Domaine de Labourdonnais restored the property to make it an official estate and attraction. The property is a unique souvenir for the island, and a visit to the area is an immersion into the art of living in Mauritius in the 19th century. From the moment you turn into the majestic Intendance tree-lined (Ficus Retusa) avenue leading to the château, visitors will discover a magical place that shines a spotlight on Mauritian history, nature, cuisine and savoir-faire. It is a complete pleasure to visit the interior of the mansion and discover the selection of antiques and furniture dated back to the 18th century.

Love nature? Then the Mauritius National Botanical Gardens is a must-see and a wonderful treat. The largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, the garden is home to over 650 varieties of plants and 85 different palm trees from around the world, some of which have been planted by royalty and famous world leaders. There is also a spice garden and giant water lilies. Formerly known and named after the former Prime Minister Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam, and lovingly known as Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens to the native islanders, it was initially a private garden to the then French governor nearly 300 years ago. Meet the giant tortoises and other animals and take pleasure in the serenity of nature.

Avi the tour guide was excellent not only his knowledge of the area and the sites but he went out of his way to question us about what and where would be of interest to us which made such a difference to the day, he also recommended other trips that he thought we would enjoy, he also had a great sense of humor which made light of the few negatives that we encountered. The biggest negative was the cashmere shop where it was hard sell from the moment we walked in I had to walk out as the woman was relentless in trying to force me to buy anything and everything

Avi was absolutely brilliant, he was very friendly and very helpful. He took amazing photographs to capture moments. The tour was beautiful - from the Château De Labourdonnais to the Botanical Garden. Lunch was delicious, and on the drive back he also showed us other beautiful areas.

Avi was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He asked questions about our interests and customized the tour accordingly. His SUV was clean and stocked with water and snacks. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic trip Avi was a great knowledgeable guide along with his wife. They listened to what we liked and tweaked the tour so we could also go to Port Louis and have proper street food on the way. The little details like snacks water sun tan lotion etc were appreciated. We did so much and saw everything we wanted it was a brilliant day. Communication was excellent beforehand and on the day. We would highly recommend

Thank you very much, Avi. We had a wonderful day with you. Every stop on the trip was well selected and gave us new knowledge about your wonderful island and its history. The former sugar factory is now such an interesting museum! Botanical garden and the Red Church at Cap Maleureux will remain in our memory for very long. But we learnt also from your stories while we were still on the way. We enjoyed very much the individual service on this private trip. We wish you all the best for the future.

What a brilliant day we had during this tour. Both Avi and his wife, Jaya was attentive, knowledgable and entertaining! Our own home made rum to sample in the car with a picnic basket was wow!! Loved the historic places and tastings! An awe inspiring power couple that has all bases covered!
