Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park
We are going to Imjingak Park from Seoul to do the DMZ tour. It takes about 70 minutes. Our first destination is Imjingak Park. When we get there, we will first buy a DMZ ticket and register our information to get permission and take some time to look around there. Imjingak Park is Korea's representative unification tourist site and it was built in 1972. Since then, various facilities have been built one after another, and it has taken on its current appearance. This park is located 7 km south of the MDL. And unlike JSA and DMZ, civilian like us can visit here without permission. For that reason, many locals and foreigners visit this place, and about 5 million people visit this place a year. You can see the Peace Bell, the Mangbedan Altar, the Bridge of Freedom. We are going to stay here for about 60 minutes.
The Third Tunnel
First, we will watch about 8 minutes of video clips related to the DMZ in a theater. After watching the video clip, we will have some time to look around the exhibition hall. We will go to the 3rd Tunnel which was dug by North Korea. In 1970, North Korea dug about 20 tunnels near the border to invade South Korea again. Among 20 tunnels, we have found 4 tunnels so far. Among them, four tunnels have been discovered so far. The 3rd tunnel was discovered in 1978. Among the 4 tunnels, the 3rd tunnel is the largest and the most threatening because it is the closest to Seoul. The distance from here to Seoul is only 52 km and about 30,000 armed North Korean soldiers can pass through this tunnel in about an hour. The total length of this infiltration tunnel is 1,635 meters. And the height and width of the tunnel are about 2m, but they are not constant. From the military demarcation line, it runs 1,200 meters into the north and 435 meters into the south.

After a rocky start, the tour company immediately addressed the problems and sorted them out. This was a private tour of the DMZ and the suspension bridge, including lunch. Our guide Sebastian was very knowledgeable and helpful. Throughout the tour, he explained the history, pointed out landmarks, and provided context for everything we experienced—including our delicious Korean meal. He accompanied us every step of the way, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Sebastian truly made all the difference.

Taylor was our tour guide/driver. He was very professional and in communication via WhatsApp the night prior around 8pm. Based on the traffic an location of our hotel he adjust pickup a few minutes later. Which we were glad to find out the night prior. This tour was very educational for me as I really had no idea of the history of the Korean War. Taylor took the time to explain their history and the significance of the tunnels that were found. Fair warning though the entry into the tunnel is a long walk roughly 300m long and I would guess a -15 degree grade. Very easy to walk down. But the walk back up was a bit strenuous for my mother in law. She had to take a few rest breaks on the hike back up. Smartly there are sitting benches placed along the route. Overall this was a great experience for our family, we learned a lot. Thank you Taylor.

We had a wonderful experience at DMZ with our tourguide Shane. He knows a lot about the DMZ environment and you could ask anything you want.

An interesting place to visit, a very full day! Felt a bit rushed at times, felt the tour lacked the human element of the war between the north and south Korea. There was no mention of the UN forces and loss of life in securing their freedom. It's in danger of becoming commercialised and more disney than history and reality!!!

Emily was a great tour guide and driver. She arrived on time and even made it back to hotel early as requested. We saw all the sites and she took really good care of my family.

A Must-Do DMZ Tour with Emily! Taking a private DMZ tour with Emily was one of the best decisions we made on our trip to South Korea. From the moment she picked us up at our hotel, we knew we were in great hands. She shared such fascinating history—starting before Japanese occupation all the way to the present day—and helped us understand it all with helpful maps and great storytelling. One thing that really stood out: unlike other guides we saw that day, Emily actually hiked up and down the 3rd tunnel and the nearby suspension bridge with us, which ended up being one of our favorite parts of the day. Even when we had to join a larger bus group for a section, she made it feel like we were still on a private tour. She was also super thoughtful about our dietary restrictions, which we really appreciated. If you’re heading to Seoul, do yourself a favor—book a private DMZ tour with Emily. It was personal, meaningful, and unforgettable.

Andy was the best guide ever! My mom is 98 and is mobile, but uses a small compact wheelchair. He went out of his way to be so helpful and accommodating. He speaks great English and is very knowledgeable on history, as well as Korean life today. He has a really nice van that was comfortable too. We highly recommend him and definitely suggest requesting him for a private tour. FYI - we were a family of 4 youngest 23, no teens but there was no option to select that

Had a great time, Emily was punctual arriving in the morning to pick us up, and drove us to every location with plenty of time to spend at each. We didn’t feel rushed and she was good about providing relevant background history with basic visual aids at different locations. Great alternate location to view North Korea with the previous location closed to visitors since 2023. It was a really great day, thank you!
