Condor's Cross
After picking up all the participants we depart from Arequipa at 3:30 am and we drive to Chivay where we stop for breakfast and later continue to the Condor's Cross which is the best place to watch the Canyon and the famous Andean Condor birds.
Colca Canyon
The Colca Canyon is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. The area surrounding the Canyon is famed for its traditional and colourful towns which you will pass through along the way. In the Canyon you can find over 100 kinds of birds, over 300 types of plants and more than 30 types of cactus. The highest point of the Canyon is Ampato at 6388 meters above sea level. Colca valley and canyon are stunning. We loved seeing the Condors so close and we enjoyed the hot springs. BUT the 3 hour journey there and 3 hours back were the most uncomfortable I have had on any excursion - there simply is not enough leg room for anyone over about 172 cm. My knees were rammed up hard against the seat in front, so think hard about booking this if you are over 172 cm. Plus we were dropped at one spot and told to be back at 9.30 (an hour after drop off) but it was nearly 10am by the time the minibus arrived, so we had stood around doing nothing for 30 minutes simply waiting.

Beautiful scenery despite the absence of condors!!! Discovery of the canyon, volcanoes... Pay attention to the entrance fees to the canyon. We give the pennies to the guide (I am with a child) and initially it was the total price for 2 while the poster indicates child prices. He came back to us because he got "a discount" on my son's ticket. I find myself having paid twice his ticket after checking at the hotel!!!!

My friends and I took a trip to Colca for a day, it was a long day but, it's worth it. My friends were fascinated with the wonderful view of the Colca Valley, the depth of the canyon and the flight of the condors. If you like to go to the Colca Valley in a day, I recommend you go between March and October. In these months there is the possibility of enjoying the flight of condors with greater possibility since, in the rainy season it can be difficult to appreciate them. If you want any advice you can write to me at +51 982072716. I have been traveling for several years with friends and tourists who like to visit in a different way.

Because I broke my ankle three four weeks ago, I wasn’t able to go on the tour. I was disappointed! I was also disappointed that I wasn’t able to get a refund; but I knew that in advance .

It was an amazing experience in the Colca canyon, we departed early in the morning around 3:30 am, the team arrived on time to our aribnb. The breakfast was good and the lunch was cheap considering we ate a lot. The altitude sickness could hit you very bad so it would be better to bring some medicine because it is hard to find it near the Canyon. I would recommend the experience!

A very nice experience in the Colca Canyon, we went with the family and had an incredible time, the guides were very kind and attentive to us, the tours are wonderful and the local food is delicious, we had a lot of fun and we hope to return soon.

I got food poisoning the day before and tried to cancel. They responded to my messages very quickly the day prior when I was confirming my hotel. But as soon as I let them know I am feeling unwell and unable to come. Radio silence. I asked if it was possible to have any sort of refund. Radio silence. Maybe it's a fun trip, but the customer service is horrendous.

- the breakfast was one scrambelled egg and a bit of toast and jam - the first stop was at a colonial church you could only see over the fence, and some ladies with llamas waiting to charge you for a picture - 3 hours into the tour the guide mentioned we might not see any condors as they mostly migrate between November and April. It would have been nice to know before we booked the tour. We were there in the first half of november, especially for the condors. - the group in the minibus was mixed between a two day trek and the one day tour. We got dropped off at the condor view point and the mini bus continue with the 2day group and the guide. We were told they will be back in 1h and to wait for a different guide (we only had his name as reference, nothing else... good thing i took the time to write down the licence plate). We waited for 20 minutes past the agreed time until the minibus showed up. I wish i could have used this time to take pictures of the few condors that we could see instead of hunting for the right mini bus in the crowd. - once we left the condor view point we were taken to a hot spring (la chimpa), where entrence was 15 sol. When most of the group (11/15) showed no interest, we were told we couldnt wait in the bus and that we had to pay an entrance to just walk around the place. Me and my wife ended up sitting for an hour by the side of the road. The rest of the group wondered off and apparently got onto the hotspring ground, so they received a stern talk before being allowed back on the minibus. - lunch (restaurant turistico misti wadi, same as breakfast) was more expensive than we were told, and the food was insuficient - one grilled chicked for maybe 30+ people at the location - at the end of the tour, after another few uninteresting stops, we got dropped of on a random street near the city center. It would have been nice if they dropped us off in the central square. At the end of the day, it was a very expensive way to waste a day. Would not recommend it to anyone.

The views were amazing and our guide Ghersy was brilliant. Beware biting insects & double cost for mules for larger people.

The canyon was amazing. The views were out of this world. However, the bus was crammed full, no emergency hammers, and the door had difficulty open on more than one occasion. No room in overhead compartment for my rucksack, so had it on my lap. It was 15 hour trip. Most the people on the trip were Peruvian, and two English. I couldn't understand a word that the tour guide said whilst on the bus as the microphone was extremely poor. I received no information regarding what I was looking at. It was more we are stopping, you've 20 minutes. The stops other than the actual canyon were add ons and really not anything special. The breakfast was literally a bread roll, quinoa soup. They offered egg, and then had to pay for it which wasn't explained. The buffet quoted as 30 sols I ended up paying 43. I'm guessing 13 soles for a water is reasonable. Not. Nowhere takes card. So make sure you take enough cash. The other person who spoke English didn't, so I had to sub him for dinner. I actually asked for a refund, and I have never done this before, and was refused. Which is why I am completing this poor trip advisor review. Not sure what my £45 actually covered. Other than the driver and fuel, as everything else you had to pay additional for on top. There were additional activity options available which weren't mentioned on the trip notes. Kayaking, motorbikes and zip line. But I felt this was very rushed. I did the kayaking and it was like going around a small pool.
