This tour combines a walk with a bus excursion, it will begin with a 3-hour hiking route from Llano del Jable. We will enter, always accompanied by authorized guides, on the new path that has been created to see the crater of the new volcano, from an enabled viewpoint. We will be able to learn more about the geological history of the island. Then, we will go to the Port of Tazacorte, from where it is possible to appreciate the new expansion of the island, known as the lava delta. Then we will ascend through the La Laguna neighborhood, an area visibly affected by the volcano's lava flows, arriving at the Plaza de Tajuya, which became an improvised viewpoint for the eruption. Finally, we will see the volcano from Tacande, one of the closest neighborhoods to the place where the volcano was born. With this route we will be able to verify how the orography of the landscape was modified, after 85 days of intense activity of the volcanic eruption of Tajogaite.

Excellent tour, would highly recommend. Our transfer driver promptly picked us up from the hotel to bring us to the meeting point, and our tour guide met us there only minutes later. Vim was a fantastic guide. He was not only knowledgeable about the geology of the island and the Tajogaite eruption, but he communicated these topics clearly for different levels of understanding, and in multiple languages! (English, Spanish, and I believe German too). The views were amazing, especially as we got closer to the crater of Tajogaite. As a fairly active person, the 2.5 downhill hour hike was comfortable, with a gentle gradient for the first half, steep in the second half (sometimes very), but all on sand-like ash so didnt involve any tricky foot placement (although the walking poles provided did come in handy, and the next day my back is a little stiff!). After the tour we were able to visit local cafes to get a drink and freshen up in the toilets, but I would still recommend walkers bring some wipes if they have then as your legs can get very ashy on the walk down. Maxxie was also an excellent driver, taking us first up to the start of the walk, then meeting us at the end and driving us to the viewpoint of the lava delta. I do not envy having to navigate the steep, windy island roads! Communication via Whatsapp with La Palma Transfers was clear and reassuring. All in all, I would highly recommend this activity for anyone wanting to see some brilliant sights, learn about volcanoes, and understand the "isla bonita" a bit better. We were picked up from our hotel at 7:45am, met with the rest of the tour group at 9am, and were back at the hotel by 2pm.

Since all the paths are guarded this is the only way you can get the closest on foot to the Tajogaite Volcano. However we hadn’t got a lot of time there, sometimes I felt that we are running. The walk there and back was about maximum 1,5-2 hours and it is not that difficult. Proper shoes are necessary because of the sandy surface. We were lucky with the weather, but sometimes it could be very foggy. Wim the guide was really up to date of everything related not just the latest eruptions but the volcanology of the island too. He answered every questions. The other viewpoints was not that interesting but they could be good backups if the weather is nasty up there in the mountains.
