  The highlight of my trip to Laos. Thats saying something as we did alot of amazing things in Vientiane and Luang Probang. Our guide Da was an amazing guide twlling us history and storys the entire walk. We werent hurried and allowed to see everything at a leisurely pace. The hike is relatively new and not not heavily touristed we mostly had the trail to ourselves.

  Our guide for this adventure was Pany. He was knowledgeable, polite and cheerful while speaking great English. More than that, we had fun with him and he took wonderful care of us. This is October. The trail was a path through a beautiful setting but, given the time of year, it was wet and muddy. Pany made each of us a walking stick and that made all the difference. The trek takes a few hours and was an adventure that was well worth it. I had driven to the falls many years earlier. Forget that. Do this. The stop for food was perfect. The right place and at the right time. Thirty minutes later, we were at the falls. If you are thinking about it, do it. Moreover, do it with Pany!

  

  

  

  

• Kuang Si mini trekking journey

  It was overall a great experience, everything went smoothly and the tour itself was well organized. Our driver Mr Mee, was punctual throughout the journey. We had Mr Pany for our guide and he was very kind and helpful throughout the entire journey. We started off our trekking journey at a local Hmong village where one of the locals was kind enough to accompany us for the first somewhat difficult part of the hike. Since it is raining season, the path is quite slippery but it is still manageable. I noticed that some paths were blocked due to the rain so we definitely appreciate Mr Pany’s effort in clearing and finding new paths for us. Lunch was tasty and the view from the top of the waterfall was great. Definitely saw a lot of other tourist on the way down which was nice. However, I would definitely recommend everyone to give this experience a shot if you are a free spirit with some time on your hands. Definitely worthwhile journey :)

• Trek to Kuang Si Falls

  What a wonderful day, our best in Luang Prabang area on this 5 day trip. The trek is suitable for anyone of average fitness. The start of the walk at the village was educational to see how the locals lived, passing by homes with families rebuilding a roof that is on a three year cycle. From there we passed through a rubber tree plantation and saw the rubber being harvested. Then the main of the trek commenced including both open to the sun but mostly pleasantly shaded. Some inclines early on but not too bad. We stopped for lunch with appx 30 mins before the falls. At the falls there are quite a few steps (easy) to get down to the falls but you are picked up at the other side so not a problem. The falls are everything you’d hope they would be and a visit to the Bear Rescue centre ended the day perfectly. No time to visit the butterfly centre (closes at 4pm) but as it was not right season it was not a problem. Our guide Sommay was educational and entertaining and a real asset to Manifa Travel.   Very good guide with a lot of experience. Made us aware of a lot of native animals and plants on the way to the falls. He also gave us many insights into the lives of the natives. The guide was great! However, we felt in the "removed village" somewhat like in the cinema. Everything seemed very posed and fake. But that's just a guess and not a fact. The Kuang-Si waterfalls are incredibly impressive. We still liked the way there better because the waterfalls themselves are totally overflowing touristically.

  Really enjoyable trek with the guide Year. My friend and I were solo, which I feel worked out awesomely. Year was so friendly, funny, and just personable. I really appreciated how much information he shared and the joy with which he shared information including about his past experiences on treks, his own life, about Thailand, and about the trail/waterfall as well. He was very accommodating and checked in often about how we were doing and any questions/curiosities that we had. Also, it was just cool learning more about him and his multilingual skills (native language, Lao, Thai, English, French)

  Such a lovely day. My guide, Year Xiong, arrived early to pick me up. I was his only guest for the day, and his service was incredible. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and able to answer all my questions. I had a great time hearing about his life and experience in Laos. The hike was not difficult and beautiful, bonus was the village and having Year as a photographer every time I asked! Gave good pad thai and a croissant for lunch, with oranges after. He knew the route very well and everything went smoothly. Highly recommend him as a tour guide!

  

  

  

  

  

• Great trail, the major con is the guide.

  The trail was great, and I had wonderful people to trek with. The major con was the guide. He was 40 minutes late to pick me up. He didn’t seem to know much of the trail, didn’t talk the last half of the trip, and slept on the bus in the way back to the city. He also made some biased jokes about women and a specific tribe. We had just one hour at the fall, which was fine with me because I didn’t plan on swimming, but if you want to swim, it’s too short. No mention about where to change clothes. The upper part of the fall was less crowded, and the Lowe part way too crowded, but no mention of that, so I was disappointed to walk down to find out about this. Overall, the trail was great, but I wouldn’t call this “tour” with that guide. I see reviews with great guides, so it really depends.
