The first stop we are going to make is the poular "Hanging Bridge" on our way to Lahij village of Ismayilli rayon (region). Hanging over "Girdiman" river, it provides a passage for the residents of Zarnava village, apart from being a touristic destination.

Lahic, one of the oldest settlements in Azerbaijan, lies deep in the southern foothills of the Great Caucasus on the slopes of the Niyal mountain range. The barren surroundings of the village, 1,200 to 1,500 meters above sea level, are not particularly fertile, which is why the locals had to find alternatives to agriculture early on in order to secure their income. And so Lahic developed more and more into a center of craftsmanship. The village is also an example of the early urbanization of the country. Lahic is home to historic buildings such as mosques and hammams, paved streets and squares, and a unique sewage system. Being more than 1,000 years old, it is one of the oldest sewer systems in the world. The houses, the streets and even the sewage system were all built with river stones found in the area. Today, Lahic actually is an open-air museum filled with life.

Nohur Lake

Nohur Lake is very popular natural attraction of Gabala for tourists. It is a place that attracts tourists all year along. Although swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited, there are many other activities enough to keep the visitors busy and entertained. Among them, fishing is one of the most common one. You can engage in fishing here for hours. It is also possible to take a boat and catamaran ride which is available during the day time. Walking along the shores of the lake and enjoying the landscape is also among the favourite activities of the visitors. There is a restaurant and souvenir shops around.

Seven Beauties Waterfall

The “Seven Beauties” waterfalls are located in Vendam settlement of Gabala city. The waterfalls flow from the highest peaks of the Caucasus Mountains. Below the mountain, only two small waterfalls are visible. One has to climb the wooden stairs to see the other five waterfalls, which takes a little physical effort. But a mysterious sight awaits those who pass this difficult path. The surroundings of waterfall is dark and cold, since it is situated in a thick forest not touched by sunshine.

Tufandag Mountain Resort

Cable Car is a highlight of the city. Divided into three parts, you can have a mesmerizing experience with really breathtaking views of the city and the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range. The cable car goes upto 1600-1900 meters, ending up at the top of the mountain. Here you are recommended to grab a cu of coffee from the nearby restaurand and observe the beauty of the nature.

Khakkhal waterfall is located on 15th km of Oghuz rayon of Azerbaijan. This enchanting waterfall provides thousands of fish with fresh water as well. That is the place you have an opportunity to catch fish and have it cooked right there.

Palace of Shaki Khans

Built in the 18th century, inscribed in UNESCO's WORLD Heritage List in 2019, the Palace is small, but distinguished by a variety of finishes and an abundance of murals, miniature paintings that their detailed examination will require not hours, but days. The Sheki Khans' Palace is a historical and cultural monument of global importance. It is considered one of the best samples of 18th century palace architecture in the Caucasus and one of the jewels of the Islamic East. The builders used specific anti-seismic belts, and the palace survived even strong earthquakes. Both the facade and the interior of the palace (with an area of 300 m²) are painted with pictures that depict scenes of hunting and war, as well as with geometric and floral patterns.

Sheki Karvansaray

Yukhari Karavansarai Hotel is by right the most interesting hotel in town. It’s a period building steeped in history, rated as 1.5* hotel. But the experience makes up for the lack of amenities. This delightful place is a converted 18th-century caravan-saray, forming a twin-level arcade of sturdy arches around a pretty central courtyard. Sheki once had five working caravanserais as the trade routes between Baku and Tbilisi and a spur route across the mountains to Dagestan used to meet here. Caravanserai is not just a hotel but also one of the most intriguing sights of the Sheki town. Overnighting here is justification enough to visit Sheki. It’s not every day that you have the chance to sleep in a genuine Silk-Road-era caravanserai, so this hotel seems like it should not be missed. It is also quite cheap. But it’s a government-run property, and it shows in every respect.

Church of Kish

Kish is one of the oldest villages in present-day Azerbaijan, and is well-known for a church here, during the period of Caucasian Albania. The current building of the temple of Saint Elisha was built in the 10-12th centuries. According to some scholars’ opinions, the church in Kish stands on the same place where St. Elisha founded his own church. That is why the temple in Kish is often referred to as one of the oldest spiritual centers in the Caucasus, since St. Elisha was the first patriarch of the Church of Caucasian Albania and an early Christian leader in the Caucasus. Radiocarbon dating of artifacts found under the church has confirmed that this has been a holy place for even longer than the current church has existed. It is interesting that one of the initiators of archeological excavations was the famous Norwegian traveller and ethnographer Thor Heyerdahl.
