The experience of discovering how german speaking immigration shaped the town look & feel, the architecture, and the mountain sports culture since the begining of times. This set the basis for the arrival of the last wave of immigation including the nazi presence (Erik Priebke). This also triggered some stories about Hitler living in the area. We wil explore evidence of all the above.

Our English guide Diego was not only very knowledgeable in all of the topics discussed, but he was very personable. He made sure to include everyone, make eye contact with everyone, and even made sure everyone safely crossed intersections.

Diego definitely knows his Nazi history and he tells it in such a way that you just want to listen to him. His English is excellent! I could have listened to him all night. 90 minutes went way too fast! Thank you Diego!

This was an exceptional 1.5 hour walking tour in the Bariloche town centre led by our guide Diego. He was very engaging with the group and clearly explained the history of the local region and Argentina in general. He also explained the strong Germanic influence dating back 100+ years and included a comprehensive coverage of the Nazis who settled in Argentina, and Bariloche in particular, post WW2. I travel extensively and I can’t recall a tour like this that I enjoyed more. Highly recommended.

Diego gave a great tour! We learned a lot about the Germans who emigrated to Bariloche. This is a walking tour that included about 10 blocks of walking. Definitely recommend this tour!

Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. His English was perfect and he had great photos/slides showing pictures of what he was discussing. The tour takes you from the city center uphill to the old German neighborhood, but stops multiple times along the way to discuss historically significant sites. Highly recommend!

I honestly didn't know about this past history before I traveled to Bariloche, and I didn't know how to feel about taking this tour. All this to say that it was worth it. Our guide, Diego, was engaging as he led us through distinct, and nuanced, chapters of german immigration to this part of the world, and shone a spotlight on some unsavory Nazi war criminals reinventing themselves in a community, torn between accountability, and plausible deniability.

This walking tour was thoughtful, clear, and genuinely engaging. Diego was an excellent guide—measured, well-prepared, and skilled at explaining a complex chapter of history with context and care, while pointing out meaningful locations around Bariloche. He created space for understanding rather than shock, which made the experience both educational and respectful. The only opportunity for improvement would be adding more stops or expanded tours to further explore Bariloche’s WWII connections. Overall, a strong, worthwhile experience—made even better by Diego’s steady and insightful approach.
