Gibraltar
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain's south coast. It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. First settled by the Moors in the middle Ages and later ruled by Spain, the outpost was ceded to the British in 1713. Layers of fortifications include the remains of a 14th-century Moorish Castle and the 18th century Great Siege Tunnels, which were expanded in WWII
The Rock of Gibraltar
The Rock of Gibraltar is a monolithic limestone promontory located in the British territory of Gibraltar, near the southwestern tip of Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. It is 426 m high. Most of the Rock's upper area is covered by a nature reserve, which is home to around 300 Barbary macaques

Parked in La Linea at Parking Santa Barbara, a large lot on Spain side; walked 5 minutes to passport control in Gibraltar’s customs building, where our guide met us with the van. . Took tour as Cable Car was under renovations and glad we did as the top of the rock is filled with monkeys as is the path down if you walk. This is their home but still they are all over and it is not a great walk I would think. The tour was expensive but easier as guide took us all over. Saw Top of Rock, Michael’s Caves (with light show), Skybridge (great views),. Saw wild barbary monkeys (they can be aggressive so glad we did not walk much near where they live). We went with Gibraltar Inside Out Rock Tours. [email protected]; www.rocktoursgibraltar.com. Dale Menez was our guide (350) 5801-5000. Dale then left us to spend some time to wander Gibraltar town where we had lunch then headed back to our car.You walk back to Spain side via the runway.
