The ancient walled city of Girona stands on a fortress-like hill, high above the confluence of the Onyar and Ter rivers. As the provincial capital it has a long and distinguished history. Founded by Iberians, the Romans later named it Gerunda and established it as an important stopping point on the Via Augusta, linking Iberia with Rome. The huge 15th century cathedral, boasting the widest unsupported gothic arch in the world, dominates the skyline, yet much of the city's attraction lies in exploring the mediaeval streets, especially around the charming Jewish quarter.

You will be able to cross the Onyar River through the bridge built by Gustave Eiffel " Pont de les Peixeteries Velles" one of the most populat monuments of the city.

This extensive visit (about 3 hours) will show you the most important monuments of Girona, its history, its Jewish heritage and also its Legends.

Our guides are local guides who know all the secrets of the city.

Usually the tour starts at 10:30am if you take the Girona Walking Tour regular (3hours) .

If you come from Barcelona the high speed train AVANT at 8.25am is the best option. You will arrives at 9.03am to Girona and there is about 20 minutes on foot to our meeting point.

Please note: Girona is situated on a hill and has lots of stairs and slopes. If you have any difficulty to walk in these areas, they may not make this tour. Not recommended for people who need wheelchairs.

The old town of Girona is beautiful. This is a great way to navigate the maze of streets and learn an overview of the history and some interesting facts. It was a very helpful introduction to the city - you go to the area around the baths and cathedral, the main shopping streets, a section of the walls and to some of the bridges. There are cobbled streets and uneven steps so wear sensible shoes. The pace was fine and there is plenty of time to stop and take photos. Paula our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and it was great to hear about the city from a resident. The company were very organised and everything worked well.

A good overview of the city of Girona with a walking tour that hits all the highlights with suggestions for more things to explore on your own later. Paula was charming and knowledgeable and I’d recommend this tour for any first time visitors to Girona.

This tour was fantastic! Our guide Miguel had incredible local knowledge that was informative and entertaining. We learned so much about all aspects of Girona’s history and had a lot of fun with him. We would highly recommend this tour.

We had the English tour with guide Ona. Very interesting to do we got a lot of information about history of Girona. Afterwards there are also local tips on what else to do in town and where to go for lunch or dinner.

Excellent tour with Carolina, our guide. She was very enthusiastic and the three hours just flew by. The comparitively small number of people (just nine) helped to make the tour seem very personal.

I would give a 10 star! First, I must say if you are a bug fan of history, you must visit Girona. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, more reason for you to see the place yourself. Carolina is super knowledgeable and explained the history very interestingly. She answered of our questions. This is definitely the best tour we had in Spain. If you only have one day out of Barcelona, don’t do Costa Brava, try Girona.
